wetncold
I would go with the 20" if it is magnum. The 16" if it's not. But that's just me.
planeflyer21
:yup: Yup...the 16"-er. Not a lot of data for the 16" barrels with .358 Winnie but it is a dream rifle of mine. Looking forward to watching this one! <munch>
Robocop1051
The norma magnum is way too long for a .308AR. I wouldn't use a rifle length gas on any length of barrel... not for that caliber. The .358 Win doesn't have enough powder to burn in that diameter of a barrel. Instead, since I assume you're not planning beyond 200 yard shots, I'd go short as possible and use an adjustable gas block.
1973pwctd
How does this sound 18 ss in 1,12 twist whit med length gas or will 338 federal be a beater for more destine the 338 would 1-12 twist whit rifle length gas it will be made by mcowen thank for all the help
planeflyer21
That would also be a good thumper IMO. Both are sort of scarce on factory loaded ammo, so it would be time to reload.
Robocop1051
Why 1:12" twist for such large projectiles? The .338 and .358 are 180-250 grains. I'm no reloader, but I'd think a 1:10 would be more appropriate? ? ?
1973pwctd
LOOK at the 450 bushmaster it has a 1 in 24 twist the 250 ftx is 2200fps carbine gas change that to rifle and now you have 2500 to 2900 fps ok now look at the 1,12 twist 358 win load 250 jackted sp is 2200 at 49.400 psi I think the 308 case is rated at 62.000 maxt
