Aero M5 owners... Have you tried a DPMS mag yet?

So i have a few pmags for my aero that work great. However, i still like metal mags and the idea of having a few back in the safe.

So, I ordered some Brownells 20 round aluminum mags they just released but they were horribly finished.  Like clumps and runs in the paint/finish whatever it is.

Brownells response latest response:

Thank you for getting back to me. Our current inventory is similar to what you received. We had received the magazines and they were not to our standards. The magazine were returned to the factory for correction and sent back to us. What you have received is a combination of markings during repair and test insertion into lower receivers.  The new batch that will be coming in, will only have minor markings and better finish as they will only be test inserted into lowers.

I again apologize for the inconvenience and frustration.

Anyway, I tried to exchange the Brownells mags but they said their entire first batch has a poor finish basically so i ordered a DPMS mag just to see.  Wow, really nice quality and finish.  Felt great... but... won't go in the magwell.  Like one MM needed to make it work. Im sure i could force it in but just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue.  It wore off the cerakote where it's hitting at.  Pmags and brownells mags both load and drop free fine.

Shot the new-version DPMS 19-rounder through my AP 308 - functioned fine.  For "new version" versus the older stuff, you shouldn't have too much to worry about, for ordering - several years ago, the DPMS mags wouldn't run unless you performed surgery on the feed lips.  Not a concern, now, if you're buying new.  Watch out if you're looking for bargains on old, used ones.
