I just got done building the Megaten but still need to check headspace.

School me on using nato ammo vrs 308 ammo. What about the headspace gauges? I'm about to order some and need to know what to get.

Thanks

NATO head spacing  and  ammo was designed so all 7.62 X 51 ammo will fit and work in any given weapon.  other maybe adjustment on a gas regulator. this is so a invading army can use ammo from the country the just conquered.

the 308 actually is rated for higher chamber pressure than the 7.62 X 51 NATO round.  it is a argument that has went on for a long while.

or this "

there has NEVER been a single documented case of a blowup or other catastrophic failure from ANYONE firing EITHER surplus 7.62 in a .308W chambered rifle OR ANYONE firing surplus 5.56 in ANY .223 chambered rifle. When actually measured, The actual pressure differences in these rounds are either ZERO or 2-3000 psi. Most of the confusion arises from the differences in pressure data between CUP (copper units pressure) and PSI.

if you can give me a actual case in which the problem has happen please inform me.  not something that a Friend of a friend once heard about this happening to someone who knew someone once some third world country I don't believe any of it. I have shot  bot in every weapon I have . and I only use weapons that are  NATO round. except the 22LR

Given DPMS' propensity to mark everything 5.56 (even though its an obvious .223 chamber) I have NO doubt that this 7.62x51 marked barrel is in all actuality .308. I'm going to cast it soon to verify, but I wouldn't bet against me.
