Gas Block Compatibility

It seems that gas blocks are the same for .308 AR barrels and .223/5.56 barrels, so long as diameters match.  For instance, I have an AP barrel with a .750 diameter.  Can I put any .750 gas block on it, or is there such a thing as a .308 specific gas block?

They are the same for both platforms as long as the diameter is correct.

I would add one exception, if the gasblock has a rail and you want it to match the upper rail height they will be 308 specific - and of course the    

DPMS pattern has 2 rail heights so in this case proceed carefully

Guru - good call.  I plan on just getting a low profile gas block to hide under my handguard to avoid all that stuff.
