He and his organization appear to me to be the real thing, not that I can't be fooled as I have definitely been fooled before. The reason I say all of this is he said when this first came up in October 2017 that if we let bump stocks get banned the next things would be all semi autos, detachable magazines, and match triggers. WTF? I'd like to believe it's not true, but it doesn't look good from here.
