Hello all,

a little background on myself,

I’ve hunted and fished my entire life. Been around all kinds of guns except for custom build “AR’s”. So a buddy of mine got into builds a couple years ago and i helped him build a couple ar15’s from 80% lowers.

long story short, im looking for some guidance on building my .308 from a 80% polymer.
will most uppers work with a polymer 80% lower?

if not, which upper is the “ most compatible” with 80% lowers.?

im really new to the builds, so if you could bear with me.
thanks in advance.
hope all is good in the hood.

The short answer is no, most large frame ARs are somewhat proprietary.

There are 3 main categories of 308ars: Armalite pattern, DPMS pattern and Rock River pattern.  They are all different regarding receivers and they are not interchangeable.

Even within the most common DPMS, there is no guarantee one manufacturer will fit and function with another.

The best way to get the answer is to ask the manufacturer.  You can also search the forum to see if someone else has posted the information.
