All the Magpul talk reminded me they were developing a Magpul Quad Stack 60 Round Magazine

I heard about that, looks just like the Surefire, but I'm guessing they'd have done it in plastic. I guess we'll just have to wait and see about the 40 rounder. of course Nordic and lancer already have the 48 rd Pmag extension, or the full 48 rd mag, and those seem to work without problems, although a one piece 40 rd pmag would definitely be more durable.
