SOF want a new sniper rifle

Recommended Posts

I'm completely convinced that this is already sewn up, and done.

Here's the article, 5 Jan this year, that SOF is looking for a new sniper rifle.  Checkat' it:

What happens 2 weeks later, right before SHOT Show...  Athlon Outdoors sneaks out that Barrett is making a new MRAD.  The MRADELR, in .416 Barrett.

There's no solicitation on this contract - it's already done.  There might be a trial period, some time for other companies to come up with something - but they're not coming up with something that's gonna beat this.  This is clear, once you watch the vids embedded in the article I linked.

I'm glad for Barrett, and it's something that needed to be done.  That's the only gun that will ever meet that contract, no matterhow it's written, and it's one of the very best cartridges to chamber such a beast in, for what is intended.

That's a badass check-mate to military contracting, right there.  Develop the gun, shoot the King Of Two Miles for 2 years, with a factory gun, NOT custom - and wait for the requirement that drops from DOD...

Check.  Mate...   :hail:
