N1887T
Started working on a load for the AR-10, using Hornady 178 ELD-m's and staball match. I had a jug I bought when it came out a few years back, didn't really try using it too much, since I had 20lbs of varget to blow through. I started at 42 grains, and got anywhere from 1 to 1.7 inch groups until I got to 44.7, which is looking a little better at .89 inches. Next step up at 45.2 was about 1.25”, then 45.7 opened up to 3.9” with some ejector swipes. Just wanted to see if anyone else was trying this powder and having any luck with it. I like how it meters, and it's considerably less expensive around here than the others.
98Z5V
If you look at the Hornady projectiles in the 178 flavor, for .308, there's something peculiar going on. I ran 178 HPBTs for 5 years straight. Then they came out with the 178 ELD-M. Not much of an improvement, so I didn't switch. THEN, they released the 178 ELD-X projectile, that was better than both the predecessors. I switched right then, didn't look back, and have a better load overall now. Before you get too deep into that 178 ELD-M, move over to the 178 ELD-X and work that load up...
