Carbine vs mid-length on 16" barrel.

I've read on here that it's wise to choose mid-length gas systems on the 16" barrels.  I understand the port pressure thing, I'm just wondering how much of a difference it makes.  The reason I ask is that I'm considering buying one of the cheap oracle uppers, and they are carbine gas systems.  Are they reliable and worth while?

I've also noticed that the Bushmasters use a mid-length system, and they look much more proportional.  Also noticed that Bushy uses lowers that use replacable trigger gaurds, why doesn't dpms?

Get the middy if you can find it. The carbine's are fine, just a bit over gassed. You may need to get a heavier buffer, or an adjustable gas block to regulate the amount of gas your rifle uses.

As for why doesn't DPMS do it... It's probably as simple as, DPMS bought a shit ton of barrels at a certain spec. When they eventually use them all up, they may go to a newer design. Bushmaster builds at much smaller quantities. They can change their builds more often.

Ok thanks for the reply.  That's what I figured, overgassed.  I watched a Bushmaster midlength carbine go on gunbroker for over $1100, but it did have a nice ff tube on it.
