New POF 308 owner/Looking to reload

Hello all,

I have a POF 308, and an RCBS single stage Rock Chucker Press (NOW I wish I purchased the progressive...LOL).....my first AR style rifle....

Anyways....My Browning BAR 30-06 Type 1 Grade 2 (1969)....sporting rifle...not the original BAR (I would love to have one of them)

Reloading for a semi auto suggests that I use "Small Base" dies....

Is this the same for AR platforms?  Would I want the RCBS .308 small base dies?

I MAY....hog hunt with this weapon ...any suggestions for a load for hogs/elk/deer?

Best bullet/Brass/Powder/Primer recommendation highly appreciated.  Preferably from someone that has actually taken an elk/hog/deer at say 30 yards up to 300 yards....

Really narrowed the playing field there didn't I?  LOL

Any recommendations very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

Nothing wrong with a single stage press , I make my best loads on one .

Some say small base dies are not necessary & may not be , but it only takes one tight case in a chamber to stop all the others behind it from feeding .

Bullets? It all depends on what you want them for or to do . Long range bullet performance will get you up into the heavy 's .

Hog's , look at Barns or Hornady's SST's , but there are so many good bullets now a days , its hard to go wrong .
