madmikes Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Im new to a 308 AR however I own several Ar15 s.Has anyone modified a Sportical 308 ,trigger,gas block,stock etc.Thanks
survivalshop Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 You can alter them, just like the any AR platform.Triggers & stocks are the same , buffers & springs are different . Free float hand guards are 308 specific. They do make special 308 stocks in some cases, because of the length of the 308s charging handle, but that's not the norm .
sccritterkiller Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Yes. I got a sportical for a good deal but it looked too off the shelf for me. I replaced everything but the bolt assembly, lower and barrel. It a great place to start you get a shooter and you can customize as you go. I will save you the trouble a regular AR-15 barrel tool will remove the barrell nut. This was once a sportical.....got a some FDE magpuls and a FDE grip on the way. I am leaning toward the 308 ACOG in FDE. Get it and go nuts <thumbsup>
madmikes Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 Very nice .I will be looking for a bipod next.Keep in touch.Have you done any testing on what ammo it prefers?
sccritterkiller Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Nope not yet....I will mosly use this for pig hunting so just about anything will work most shots are 100yds or less. Once I decide on a scope I will start working on longer shots.
madmikes Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 I have a Trijicon on mine with the Arrow Head reticle. <lmao>
sccritterkiller Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 I love to shoot them with a bow. Problem is I can't keep up. This should tip the scales in my favor. ;)
madmikes Posted September 24, 2010 Author Report Posted September 24, 2010 Where did you get that dust cover
sccritterkiller Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 The dust cover came with the upper...I applied a couple coats FDE duracoat, same thing with the forward assist and you can't see in the pic but I also did the charging handle release.
