stevepsd Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 I have a Varmint A4 and with my scope & mount setup (Steiner 4-16x50 34mm Military & 20 moa Addmount) I can just barely get to the charging handle latch, so I need a bigger latch! This scope sits nice and low on the rifle, just as I like it, with about 1/8" of room to spare between the top rail and the scope cover. I see that RRA is now offering the PRi GasBuster charging handle but I cannot tell if the latch is much, if any longer than stock. As it appears that the actual latch on the LAR-8's is just a standard AR-15 part (at least accoring to the part numbers listed on the RRA site) I could put on a larger latch such as the one from Badger Ordnance. I am sure others have run into this issue as well and am looking for suggestions. Thanks.
OFP2651 Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 I put an extended/bigger latch on mine easily. It was just a regular AR-15 part as you stated. Probably cheaper than getting a whole new charging handle, but I have read that the PRi GasBuster is a good handle as well.
