(for now) Is a 1911-width striker fired 9mm Luger, with a 5" barrel and good controlability.

Had the Taurus 9mm 1911 out to the range yesterday (really the best price going for a forged, bells-&-whistles 1911).  At 125 yards, we were able to hit an improvised steel target 7 and 8 rounds out of the 9 round mags!

The targets someone put up are old oxy and acetalyn tanks, with hooks welded onto them for hanging.

So, looking around the webby world, there are some interesting items out there now.

The Kahr T9 looks pretty cool but only comes with a barrel just under 4".  All steel, nice wooden grips, and 8-round capacity mags.

Something that looks pretty cool is the new Walther PPQM2, the option with the 5" barrel.  The M2 is reworked to have an ambidextrous American-type magazine release.  The 4" barrel option looks pretty cool too, having a full length dustcover extension on the frame.

One issue with both of those is CRAP the extra mags are expensive!!!

If nothing else, I'll be getting a 9mm XDM in either the 4.5 (very hefty) or the 5.25 variants.

What else is out there in the striker-fired world?
