  1. OK, over 70 people viewed this post and only 2 replies. Does this new not bother you. >:(
  2. My loaded ammunition is all stored in GI ammo cans and sealed air tight if it is longer term. But I have been using the 5 gal plastic buckets normally found at the home improvement stores. I currently hae over 15,000 rds of new and once fired brass in diferent calibers, so I have a few buckets. Although the lids for the buckets seal well, they are a big pain to get off the bucket. But my last trip to the local store for a few more buckets I discovered there is a new lid out on the market. Hopefully in the picture you can see the ring that goes on the bucket and the screw on lids with an O ring seal, no more fighting the lids.

    AR Trigger

I resently finished my first AR build, all considered I REALLY like it. OK so it's an AR15, but hey it's the first. To get to the trigger topic: my first trigger I installed was the ATC Gold trigger. The drop in - dropped in for the fitting and function check, worked perfectly. Then the addition of the saftey, all went well and the safety locked the trigger solid. Very pleased. Then released the safety to check the trigger and it would not move to the fire position. Removed the trigger again, started all over again, did all the checks again, it all went the same way. Next day the conversation with the tech at Brownells, it completely stumped him, trigger went back. Now have a JP trigger and I love this piece, I have another JP trigger for the 308 build.
  4. For 308, some use Federal Gold match (those that do not load their own, which is few) with 175 or 168 SMK bullets. From what I hear it is very good ammo and something I might try in the 308AR. I have not checked the OAL to see if it will fit the mags, probably will, just haven't checked. For my 308 I load my own: Lapua brass, CCI primers, Berger 155.5 gr Full Bore target, at 2950 FPS it should still be SS at a 1000 yds but never tried it out that far. The only 1000 yds range around here shut down because the land owner died and the kids started fighting. Now about 6mm ARs, yes there are AR style rifles with 6 mm loads. There's a web site on that subject as well. Thought about a project in that direction but I already have a 6mmBR bolt action started. (I have BAT action and Krieger barrel)
  5. Good to hear aprovals, thanks. I looked at just purchasing a rifle but I seem to have this thing about custom builds. Most of the firearms I have are custom something, even the 2 wilson combat 1911s I have are custom tuned. MAN are thye fun to shoot. But like I stated the next build will be an AR308, and of course this site will steer me toward the parts that are used for that. I want to see if I can get an AR to shoot as my 308 sniper style F/TR competion rifle. Again, thanks to all the members here and their advise because it REALLY helps <thumbsup>
  6. Well here is the FIRST AR project. It's a 15 to start but have already started the purchase for #2, a 308. Mega Arms billet receiver set from the group buy here on 308AR. Spike billet lower receiver Vltor billet upper receiver Novseke 16" 1:7 twist SS barrel JP Enterprises muzzle brake JP Enterprises trigger EXO Failzero bolt/carrier group with hammer Vltor charging handle Vtlor butt stock Mako grip Still to come - ACOG and RMR (on order)
  7. Being a new member, I think it would be a good idea to stay with the rules ;D
  8. Matt, thank so much for the link to your post. ANSWERED my questions! I just love this site as the amount of knowledge here is fantastic. So now it is off to finish putting this puppy together.
  9. You are correct about the waiting period! My last F Class rifle took over about a year to get completed, but the results are well worth the wait.
  10. I have a JP Enterprises Modular Hand Guard System and now at the final assembly portion, here is my question. The Hand Guard mount for the main tube screws onto the receiver first, but in the position where it is tight is at the 12:30 position, just past the alignment for the gas tube. Is it ok to just back the tube mount off so it lines up and install the barrel and tighten up the barrel lock ring? It does tighten up the barrel but does this bring in any safety issues? I have read other comments from forums where the mount ring was way out of alignment, much more than mine.
  11. I have the Failzero carrier/bolt group and hammer in my AR15 and the coating is very slick. I used a JP trigger and the EXO hammer, couldn't be more pleased even with the 4# spring. Cleaning is a breeze.
  12. Right now, I am seriously considering going with Krieger for the barrel. More money but the options they offer, and head spacing issue can be controled by sending the carrier bolt group to them. I guess it goes back to the use of quality parts result in a quality rifle.
  13. I will second the request.
  14. There's always something on order! Still waiting on the real ivory grips for my Wilson Combat 1911, another scope and an ACOG. It never ends, but I get home and I could another piece for the builds. Helps to end a day with enjoyable work on a project.
  15. I'm in if I am not too late. A 308AR using the Mega set would be a great piece. Email or PM please.
  16. Hello all. IowaFClass here for the first time. You might get a clue I am in Iowa and do compete, lets say participate in some long range high power. Just finishing my first AR15 and now on to something bigger. I already load for 308 and will do so for the 308AR toy. Looking forward to all the great knowledge here. Now on to more reading and getting in on a Mega MA TEN set if I'm not too late.
