Heavy Buffer and Spring from Heavy Buffers.com
concretus replied to concretus's topic in For Sale or Trade
Hello, the item has been sold. The listing was marked "sold pending funds" I'll change it to sold. Thanks -
***SOLD**** Thank you! Hello I have a slightly used Heavy Buffer and spring kit for Armalite and DPMS LR308 AR rifle: Per the item description: AR10R-XH Buffer w/ Armalite AR10 rifle buffer spring: * Reduces felt recoil and makes the gun operate more smoothly. Many customers use this buffer in .308 ARs to make shoting more comfortable for their spouses and youngsters. Great for use with suppressed weapons. Also popular with those shooting magnum calibers. I strongly recommend this buffer if any of the following conditions apply: If you will be shooting with a suppressor. (Your gun will still run fine unsuppressed with standard ammunition.) If you will be shooting hot handloads or very heavy bullets. If you want maximum recoil reduction. It is recommended using ArmaLite AR10 rifle buffer springs with these buffers. OEM springs from other manufacturers or aftermarket springs may cause malfunctions. 'Flat-Wire' springs are not recommended. $115.00 shipped for the set. please PM for any other details or questions. Thanks

Buffer / spring and Accuracy
concretus replied to concretus's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
That was a great thread!!! I'll see my local gunsmith Tuesday and hopefully this issue will get resolved. Thank you guys so much!!! It shot like a dream before this. I will put it up against any bolt gun on the range. I was hoping by installing the buffer would allow the rifle to run more efficient and not beat up the bolt. The first thing that came to my mind was that I hoped I wasn't trying to fix something that wasn't broke; that I should have left well enough alone.....If it will help someone else one day, I'll give an update w/ a range report....Thanks again to all!!! -
Buffer / spring and Accuracy

Thanks, I won't shoot it like that. it didn't "Jump" a thread did it? What would cause the barrel nut to come loose like that? -

I'm going to apologize now if these are dumb questions. Is there a possibility the the longer lock up time (even in milliseconds) from the heavy buffer would cause the chance for excessive pressure? I was grabbing the rifle from the safe this evening to get ready for the range tomorrow and I noticed the hand-guard is loose. It only turns less than a 1/4" but it still turns. I cannot tighten it cause it stops on the gas tube. Isn't that the barrel nut? I did have the muzzle brake installed last fall but I didn't experience anything like that at all up until Friday. Should I not shoot it and take it back to my gunsmith? It didn't experience excessive pressures to allow to push the barrel forward and loose did it? -

I think I'll go to the range tomorrow w/ the stock buffer/ spring and the Heavy buffer / spring set ups and do a little comparison. -

Hello, Does changing the buffer and buffer spring have an affect on accuracy?

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
concretus replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I've always like the .308/ 7.62x51mm, The accuracy and power, I have hunting rifles in .308, I've shot High power Competition with it! I've owned and sold off other 7.62 NATO battlerifles like the Cetme and the FN/FAL. They were fine rifle in their own right but The AR platform / rifle to me is superior in comparison with this caliber. -
Best buffer for recoil reduction?
concretus replied to concretus's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Thank you for the offer but I still have the original buffer and spring. That is possible being the fact the new buffer is heavier and a heavier bullet/ load may shoot better. -
Best buffer for recoil reduction?

I believe you are right about the boy double tapping.'me and another guy were watching him as he was shooting and he said he saw him laying on the trigger as he was shooting. That was the second 50 rd box of the Brazilian CBC I've shot through it and those FTF were the first ones ever. From all the surplus ammo I've shot through it. I'm sorry to say I've ran steel cased Russian ammo in it too and had no trouble only that it was very hot. I love the way the rifle stays on target. As far as the bolt lock up.'i'll inspect it when I get home. Thanks for the information.!!!! -
Best buffer for recoil reduction?
concretus replied to concretus's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Well I just got back from the range w/ the LR308B with the buffer/spring kit. I'm kind of on the fence with the overall performance. I shot a box of Brazilian CBC and a box of FNM Portuguese surplus. The recoil...well there isn't any anymore with the combination of the buffer and the Miculek brake. Two things that were of concern: 1. When my girlfriends son shot it, it double-tapped. That has never happened before as long as I've owned the rifle. When I shot it, I didn't experience it. 2. I had (2) failure to fire w/ the Brazilian ammo; not in sequence though. I cycled them out, re-chambered them and they fired. Accuracy was the same although I wouldn't think the buffer/spring would have some effect on accuracy. Would the new buffer/ spring kit be the culprit? Like I said, I've never had anything like this happen with the stock one. I've put 500 - 700 rounds through this rifle and the only issue I've experience was a broken extractor. (which I was kind of surprised when I discovered it.) Is there any tweaking I need to do? I do want to run some of my reloads (165gr hunting loads) and see what happens.... What are some possible issues that may arise from changing the buffer and spring? -

Best buffer for recoil reduction?
concretus replied to concretus's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
The buffer and spring came in yesterday; while a little shorter than the stock one it was a little heavier and somewhat noticeable when shouldering the rifle. The spring was longer than the stock one. Installation was simple. Just have to wait until the weekend for a function / performance check. -

7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
concretus replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Agreed... My LR308B is sub moa with my Sierra 165gr handloads and a scope. There hasn't been a surplus round it doesn't like. S.A, British, German, Korean.. It especially likes Port. and IMI (Israel) although the Brazillain CBC that is curently out there group as well, they all have a slight difference P.O.I. with the IMI being higher and the CBC lower but will basically hold 1 1/2" -2" at 100yds w/ an EOTEC 512. -
Best buffer for recoil reduction?
concretus replied to concretus's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
I'm really curious to see the possible added reduction in recoil with the buffer added w/ the Miculek brake. Although the brake makes staying on target easier. If it helps the bolt / bolt parts get beaten up less and be more efficient; that's all gravy!! -

According to the tracking, it should arrive tomorrow. I won't get to the range until next weekend. I will provide a full function report after the session!! I know I'm anxious too!! -

Great! I'll give them a look!!! Thank you! -
Hello, Let me apologize early if this subject has been beaten down. I haven't been on this site for a while and probably missed a lot of valuable information..... I have a LR308B and love it. I had a Miculek brake installed and the recoil was reduced dramatically making follow up shots easier. I've been reading a little about buffers and that they can improve performance as well. Is there one in particular that stands out ? I have an Ace stock on it and thought a new stock would enhance and reduce recoil even more. I like the way the ace stock feels and shoulders up so I felt it would be best io invest in a high performance buffer. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
