  1. Hello, I've been kicking around the idea of replacing the handguard on my LR308B it came with for the carbon fiber ones DPMS offers. Does anyone have this on a rifle? How do you like/dislike it? Sorry for the dumb question but can you drill and tap it for mounting a rail or do you have to use screw and nut?
  2. C Products mags work fine...you won't go wrong with them...
  3. 18-20" IMO is ideal for a hunting rig. Mine has the 18" bull barrel. Yea it's a little heavy but still feels good to shoulder up and fast handling. I looked into ADCO about turning the barrel down. They say it does not effect the accuracy of the barrel but right now my rifle shoots 1/2moa and I don't want to take the chance. Some folks have done it and were very pleased with the job. Good Luck! 8)
  4. There are two heights for front sights. One if you put the sight on a handguard rail and one if you put it on the rail on the gas block. I learned that the hard way. If you need a riser, Yankee Hill has one for it.
  5. Thanks, It makes a nice hunting rig for the bush... I'll just put a scope on it in the fall....
  6. That rifle looks sweet!!! Do you have a recipe for i65-175gs bullets???
  7. You can't go wrong. It'll make a nice hunting set up... 8)
  8. I'm a little late to introduce myself. I've already made a couple of posts. I think this a great site/forum. It's been very informative and as my knowledge of the AR platform 308 grows, I hope I can pass it along like most of you have done. I think the .308 is THE best all around caliber and I hope the AR type guns gains the same admiration / respect as other battle rifles before it. we get to shoot here all year round and like Texas, there's plenty of hogs. 8)
  9. Nice rifle. That Magpul stock balances it out very well.....
  10. It's an ACE ARFX. I got it at Midway; it was on sale....
  11. Thanks again... I'm a student of the K.I.S.S. method...
  12. This ones a keeper......
  13. +++1 for the LR 308B. I got the same one back in Dec less the fluted barrel. I did the break in that DPMS recommends. Just like JD, it's a sub-moa rifle with my handloads; 150 and 165 Sierra GK and even the Privi Partisan 175 FMJ... 1"- 1 1/2" with milsurp (ie. Federal white box). Eats it right up. The way it handles, you don't even mind the little heft. I got from RGUNS for $925.00 and out the door it was less than a grand. It makes a great quick handling hunter w/ Bushnell elite 3200 3x10-40mm and during the off season, and Eotec w/ Yankee Hill BUIS. I swapped the buttstock for the ACE ARFX and the p/g for an Ergo. I plan to install a carbon fiber hanguard and it should be complete. Bill Springfield did the trigger. I think you'll enjoy it!!! ;D I went through a CETME and then an FAL when I should have bought this form the begining...
  14. With my handloads using Sierra 165 GK, I got a .381 group @ 100 yds. I tried a box of 175 gr Privi Partisan and they were a little larger than 1/2".
  15. Well I was impressed with the results of a box of Silver Bear but I don't know if I will use it regularly due to the factory warning. I found that @ 7.50 bx. The Federal white box 150 fmj work and group good also and they're 13.00 bx. SA surplus @ 10.00 bx. The Winchester white box does not group well at all and costs about 14.00
  16. ++1 for Bill Springfield...
  17. I'm new to this forum and it's nice to be here. A friend of mine at his gun shop gave me a box of Silver Bear 140gr 308 ammo to try out. I was stoked at the group I got from this relatively cheap ammo. Is it okay to use in my DPMS LR308? I've read conflicting stories. One was the fact that the lacquer coating can get hot and leave deposits in the chamber causing a potential stuck case. But Silver bear has a nickle type plating....The other was the fact that steel cases do not expand like brass which does not seal up in the chamber which can leave carbon deposits in the chamber. It's a shame that it may not be recommended cause I was really impressed with its performance. Anybody out there have any feedback (pros/ cons) from using this ammo? Thanks.
