  1. I have had a lot of rotten luck with spray-ons. I am old school and still use a pad with liquid or paste. I just take 3 or 4 rounds and roll them then size /deprime. I don't stick any brass in my dies ever using this method.
  2. I have a lock n load AP and have been using it for 2 years. I've done 6-7000 of 45ACP and it really cranks them out. The loads all cycle good and are very consistant. I've had some breakage (mostly my fault) and have yet to get free replacement parts shipped free in 3-5 days and they usually send me more than what I need. I can't say enough good about Hornady and the lock n load. I am looking for an older, used single stage press so I can pay more attention to my 308 resizing.
  3. Thanks Shellmark You are exactly right. I received my RCBS AR dies and screwed the sizer down to the shell plate and then (as RCBS said in the setup instructions) another 1/2 turn. I then re ran some brass I had previously sized and sure enough it compressed about another 3/8th of an inch. I also bought a neck trimmer and trimmed all the cases to 2.010 and loaded bullets. The RCBS dies do a taper crimp instead of a roll crimp. This is supposed to be better for the semi autos. I ran a full mag by hand with no jams! I got to thank everyone for all the great advice you've given me. OT saved me a lot of time and money. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks for the help. I just got my stuff from midway and will post my results. I also got a bag of new win brass to compare with the stuff I'm reworking. Thanks again.
  5. I am full length sizing. I ordered a RCBS AR die set. It is supposed to be made specificly for the ARs. I also ordered a case trimmer. I noticed the over all length is over Sspecs after sizing.
  6. I did find an out door range just south of Indianapolis. Camp Atterberry has had a range for the Nat. Guard to use for years. Reciently, the range has been leased by the Indiana Gun Club. They have renovated the facility and it is impressive. They have Rifle, pistol, and Shotgun. There is a complete clays setup on the far end of the property with programable throwers for trap, skeet and clay pidgeon. I would highly reccomend it for anybody in the central Indy area. .... oh yea range fees are $6.00 pre hour without a membership!
  7. Hi everyone; Ive been shooting my new AR10 a couple of times a week now and i'm impressed more and more each time I shoot it. Ive also been trying to reload my own ammo using the spent, once shot brass, and havent been having a lot of luck. I have been reloading my own Pistol ammo (approx 5000 rounds per year ) for over 40 years but havent really done anything with rifle ammo. The reloads I've tried have been getting stuck in the chamber. I have reloaded a few rounds for a bolt action and didn't have any problem. Does anyone know if there is somthing I need to know that applies to the AR10 that will help? Thanks
  8. Thanks Madhouse I am a member of Family shooting and purchased my AR10 there. They are hand gun calibers only (its an indoor range). The Indiana gun club is 22 Cal rifles only. I have been in the process of contacting the ranges in cent Indiana and they all seem to be 1-2 hours away. I may not have any choice but I thought I would bounce it off the folks here. Thanks again.
  9. Just got my new Armalite AR10 A4, mounted my Eotech 512 and i"m ready to go shooting. Only problem is I dont know of any rifle close to Indianapolis. Anyone able to help me out would be great.
  10. I'm new to this site and getting back into rifle shooting again. I shot alot with my M1 Garand and M1A years ago but switched to pistol when the rifle ranges started to disaper. My new AR10A4 should be in this week and i'm looking for a range or better yet a club where I can enjoy my new rifle. Can any one recommend a club or range near Indianapolis.
  11. yea I have. My local gun shpo has 512 and it's really nice. i've used some cheap red dot sights (under $100) and they are ok if you are looking straight through the center. I ware bifocle glases and have trouble seeing front and rear sights.
  12. Thanks for all the input. I had an m1a that was glass bedded at the darlington texas arsanel and I got 3-4" groups at 600 yards. It was a very empressive wepon, but very finicky. I wouldn't think of throwing it over my sholder and doing a running course. oh yea, that was also back when I could see the target at 600 yds :) I havent had an AR platform since 82 and rail systems werent really around. I am also going to use an Eotech 552 hws. I have seen these and I like the speed of target aqusition. How about some opinions on this. Thanks again
  13. I'm new to this form and AR 10s. I was raised around guns and shooting has always been a part of my life. I'm ordering an AR10 A4 Carbine. I want to install a 4 rail hand guard and i would like your opinions on weather the floating hand guard is really worth the added cost and time. I'm not going to use this rifle for competition. Thanks
  14. Also Armalite, althougt not the same as the original Fairchild aerospace, started with Gene Stoner.
  15. I just recieved my 5 pack deal from Armalite an the price was the same as normal. (150.00). I could have gotten other brands that i'm not familiar with cheaper. oh...I haven't even gotten my rifle yet :)
