BINGO! I sent Larue an email and within 30 minutes here is the answer: That is how we used to pin and weld muzzle devices but we no longer use that method. GREAT customer service from Larue. <thumbsup>

That is interesting. Can you post a pic of the bottom of that collar? It almost looks like some sort of mount for something under the barrel but without seeing the bottom it's hard to tell. Other than that I can't see any need for it being there.

Hello everyone. AL Elks here. I just ordered the Larue PreditAR 308 yesterday. I haven't shot a rifle since retiring from the military in 2000. Looking forward to getting back into shooting again. The site logo looks REALLY familiar. :)

Same here. I ordered mine yesterday. ;D Added the EOTech XPS, iron sights, and the Sure Fire flash suppressor for when I put a can on it.
