Another thing to look at is that it has been said that steel rounds do not expand like brass. Hench when you check the chamber after you fire off several steel cased rounds, you will find the back blast from the shell will put a carbon buildup in 50-60% of the chamber. The backblast (Heat) of the steel shells going off can erode the chamber over time.
I had already posted this in another post but what the heck. Here's 40 rounds from the Larue at 100yds using an Eotech. It was my first day at the range with the Larue. The center dot covered the entire target from left to right. Can't wait to get a nice scope on it to see what it can REALLY do. This particular target is on an 8.5x11 piece of paper.
You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of these decals. <thumbsup> Also don't be surprised if our membership spikes in the next few days or so. I posted these on a few of the military facebook and forums I frequent and the reference to 308ar.com at the end of the pdf document will most likely bring some by to check out the site. :)
House passes bill making concealed carry permits valid across state lines. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/11/16/house-to-vote-on-concealed-firearm-permit-bill/?test=latestnews Now let's see what happens in the Senate. If it passes there it will be interesting to see what POTUS does. ???
Good find. I'm in the process of joining a range that's pretty close to me. Longest distance is only 300m but it's better than nothing. At least it FINALLY gives me a place to take the wife and daughter shooting which they need since they both have their CCW and the only rounds they have fired are the ones the fired during the course. Not a bad deal really $100 buy in and $100 per year on a nice range that is not crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon. :) I was out there 2 weeks ago and there was only 1 other person on the range.
I can conceal my PT145 under ANY dress shirt with my crossbreed holster so normal shirts are a breeze. Of course darker shirts do conceal better and I do prefer to wear a t-shirt under the normal shirt for comfort where the leather hugs my hip but it's not necessary.
I can't wait to get a good scope on this thing. Oh yea, the muzzle break works FANTASTIC. If you're standing to the side of that sucker you feel the concussion. :)
I finally got a chance to take the Larue to the range today. I rough zeroed it at 25m initially and then at 100m using a Larue 100m target that represents a silhouette at 300m. Not bad I guess for not picking up a rifle for over 15 years. I REALLY need some practice though. At this range the red dot of the EOTech covered the silhouette from left to right. It was later in the afternoon and the range was shaded which made it harder to see. I'm going to change the gray to black for the next trip out.
On the advice a few weeks ago of some REALLY good shooters that work at the same place as the SF guys that won the Sniper Competition this year I decided not to go this route. Their advice, clean the bore to make sure there is nothing in there and shoot quality ammo through it as no break in is needed. I'm following their advice. Just my .02 worth. PS Meeting one of them tomorrow and shooting the Larue for the first time. <thumbsup>
