You can say that again. I'd hate to be the enemy to go to war against the USA during the Paul administration. It'd probably end over night and be something mentioned in the back page of a newspaper. That's a common misconception about Paul. He's not about running and hiding in a corner. He's about blowing you off the map if you give him a good reason to. You want to see a good example of Paul's idea of national defense, just look at Russia. When Somali pirates captured some of our guys, we played games with them for two weeks before bringing an end to it, and if Obama Been Bobben had his way, it would have gone on longer. When they captured a Russian oil tanker, the Russians had it back the next day, the bulk of the wait being the time it took the Spetsnaz to get there, and they got it back with the crew in good health. And when the UN told them to let the pirates go by treaty agreement, they let them go.........out in the middle of the ocean in a row boat with no food or water. I can see a similar military policy under the Paul administration, save for the UN treaty.

This specific part of the board is for matters unrelated to firearms. Also, when I was young, they still taught emotional self-control. Apparently we live in a culture that has completely thrown out the principal of learning to control one's self. Perhaps that and peer pressure are why things like Tobacco are still making millions even though everyone knows it's going to kill them. Not controlling yourself doesn't do anyone any good in the long run. FWIW, I don't see political discussions doing allot of good on these boards. The very factors that have divided conservatives nation wide and put Obama in office will ruin friendships here on this board sooner or later. It's a matter of when, not if.

Drug abuse angers me to no end but I DO think it should be legalized simply because outlawing it only makes the existing problem worse. Drug abuse is something that needs to be gotten under control but outlawing it is not the answer. Have a look at this. A very good libertarian made program on the problems with the drug war. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3025396475247394113

Everyone knows you don't need to be a pot head to support him and his supporters are present enough to make it clear what types they are. Regarding racism, I think that's mostly because he has been critical of the American Civil War and the union's agenda. I'm actually making a documentary about that (proving that Lincoln was a tyrant) and believe it or not, virtually ALL of the negative criticism and racial accusations levied against me have come from the white community. All the black folks I've discussed it with have expressed allot of interest in it, mainly because I'm one of the last people on the planet to fit the profile of a racist and because they have enough sense to know that the outcome of the Civil War didn't do them too many favors and are basically questioning what they're being told. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the vast majority of accusations of Paul being racist are coming from the white community. There's fools wherever you go but the black community as a whole seams to know better. Few things anger black folks like white men taking credit for mercy they never showed.

Anyone hear of Lowers made by "Tactical Defense"?
MaDuce replied to Cavallino's topic in Building a .308AR
Sounds like TDS. http://www.tds-us.com/ http://tdsguns.com/ They have a store just down the road from where I live. A buddy and I frequently visit the store. They offer a few of their "own" uppers and I THINK a stripped AR-15 lower but they clearly don't make any of the parts. Last time I was there they had some really nice looking AR-15 lowers for around $80 but I think they were more of a "buddy with the maker" deal then a TDS name brand item. -
I met the man FTF and wasn't the least bit nervous. The man I met was a pretty relaxed, optimistic and easy going fellow. And our conversations went the same way as with any other gun enthusiast. The only thing him being a cop means to me is I can occasionally pick his brain about Sac County's interpretation of the law.

LOL. "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! HITCHCOCK, HANDCOCK AND BELCHER ARE COMING!!!"

Yep. Mine and Paul's political views are not only pretty much identical but we seam to have researched allot of the same stuff about our state and come to some of the same conclusions. I actually briefly wondered if I was dreaming or drugged the first time I saw him speak. Of course, I was also sleep deprived at the moment but still... I would have thought those laying down their lives for our country would most appreciate an indiscriminate follower of our constitution.

Shame on me for forgetting to do this earlier. +1 for Mr. Robobot. Transaction was FTF but we still went through the board in setting it up. Great guy to do business with.

I don't think it'll fit the S&W MP-15. This was cut to fit the flat surfaced shell deflectors on the .308 uppers. My friend has a standard AR-15 upper that I made one for. Very different cutting job. Also, because it's a curved shell deflector, getting it to stick is a process. The .308 shell deflector stickers are similar to the one on my Vltor MUR upper receiver on my AR-15 so I can say with moderate confidence that you should be able to re-cut a .308 pad to fit it but I can speak for no other specialty AR-15 receivers.

Mrraley, I am heading home tonight but may have to turn around and leave again tomorrow afternoon. IM me your shipping address and I'll get it out to you tomorrow if I have time.

As most of you know, British use to get their last names from what they did or what they were known for. Take Carpenter and Baker for example. Vikings on the other hand use to get their last names from their parents or something about themselves. For instance, Erick the Red named his son, "Leaf Erickson" Erik-son. We see similar last names allot and they usually suggest very mundane cause of origin. But now and then we see some that suggest a creepy and even disturbing origin. Below are some examples: BRITISH Handcock Hitchcock Peabody Dickinson Biles Gore Kilburn Shakespeare Baglow Connor Tietsworth Belcher Bodimeade VIKING Bearson Henson Cursons Harrison Smelson Whoson

A family emergency came up and I have to leave for a bit. Could be over night, could be 2 weeks. Most likely till later this week. IM me your address Mrraley and I'll ship to you when I get back. I'm bringing my laptop, so I'll be able to keep you posted on timing. TNP, yours is on it's way.

Chris Rock's tutorial on how to keep Mr. Robobot from chasing you until your car turns over and then walking up to you and kicking you in the face before dragging you away. LOL.

IM me your mailing address and it'll be in it's way.

That sucks.

Cool. My friend took my AR-15 out today and put about 20 rounds through it. No signs of brass making contact with the shell deflector at all (usually leaves a gold mark) so it seams to work. My AR-15s upper receiver is a Vltor MUR which has a very similar shell deflector to this version of the .308 AR, so what worked for it should work for the .308. A quick heads up. When you stick them on, make sure they are completely flat. Put them a few mm in from the very tip. The thickness of the sticker should stop the brass before it reaches the tip. If you let it go all the way to the very tip, you not only leave the tip of it prone to come loose off the curve but also run the risk of pealing it clean off when you bump something. TNP, you IMed me while I was away. I only recently got back and am waiting for a friend to come over. As soon as I am done with him I will put yours in the mail. Since you and Timing are the only ones who requested them, I will send you two stickers as I did Timing. I still have a couple more per-stamped envelopes that I put together entirely for this and I made some extra bumpers. Order soon or Timing and TNP might get some seconds. Remember that these are free and all my expenses are already paid.

I thought I posted this earlier but it appears I didn't. All of the following knives were heat treated and therma cycled (cryo treated) by Metal Science/Angel Sword. This is a hunting knife I built. Handle is made of cocobolo and brass. As the marking indicates, the blade is made of S-7 steel. I tested the sharpness by shaving a patch of hair off my arm with it. I refined it a little since these pictures were taken. Sold it to a friend for $200 (around what it cost to make). I made this knife out of the same piece of metal that the hunting knife was made of. I originally listed it for sale on craigslist and on this forum but wound up giving it to my cousin's fiance for Christmas. Literally beyond razor sharp. This is my wootz pocket knife. My personal carry-knife. I waited in line for 3 years (2 for the bar stock, 1 for the heat treat) to get the blade built. It has held up extremely well. In fact, some idiot got his hands on it and damaged the handle beyond repair, but the blade it's self remained unscathed. I had since replaced it with a newer one that I am much happier with. Both handle and blade seam to have grown sleeker and better performing over time. A couple years in to ownership it went missing for a half a year or so. It was in surprisingly good shape considering the blade had suffered ALLOT of water exposure during the time missing, but it still had some bad blemish. I was fortunate enough to restore the blade with only a few pits. The most obvious is near the center of the right side of the blade and 3 tiny pits are also visible above it on the left side of the blade above the thumb grip. BTW. Mr. Robobot, this is the one you held when we met. This picture (taken with it's original handle and before I lost it) shows the micro carbide fiber pattern in the metal. As Damascus steel is just a brand of wootz, this pattern is what caused pattern welded steel to be commonly mistaken for Damascus. The pattern is visible in one of the above pictures, but it only appears as a slight ripple in the reflection. Enjoy!

I wish I knew you had that before we met Mr. Robobot. Those shell deflector bumpers I made should fit it. I'm shipping out the last of the requests today and I still have 4 or 5 left I think. You're still welcome to one if you like.

First live fire test will be done with cast bullets.

This project was inspired by the Desert Eagle's jamming problems. I designed this gun first and foremost around reliability. If it's not as reliable as any standard 9mm or .45 then my mission has failed. Along with the buffing system handle size was a plus I decided I wouldn't bother making a .44 Magnum semiautomatic handgun without dealing with, but even with a handle of that size, the original design was even larger then the Desert Eagle. I had a functional design 8 years ago. In the course of 3 previous attempts at building the gun (which fell through for a variety of reasons) the bulk of improvement on the design made throughout the last 8 years has been reducing the size of the gun and simplifying it's parts and function. The current design has probably less then half as many parts as the original and more simple parts layout, but actually accomplishes more, not less. The only thing I threw out is a manual safety and adjustable sights though the current sights accomplish everything the adjustable sights would have and more without being adjustable. I don't remember if I mentioned it yet but despite the considerable difference in size from the Desert Eagle, the bullet has only 1/4 inch less runway then the Desert Eagle does. At least 1/2 inch of the Desert Eagle's barrel is the housing for the rotating bolt, which the Sova doesn't have or need. You should also be able to fire led cast and .44 Special ammo through it. In all, this gun is meant to be as functional, reliable and easy to use as any common auto pistol.

New photos taken today. The rear sight can now be seen. Actual carving of the rear sight will happen at the firing range when the rest of the gun is finished. As always, blacked out areas are for protecting secrets. This photo appears life-size in 1027x768 screen resolution. If that seams big, compare some of your handguns to it.
-
FINALLY!! After months of fighting with it, I finally got the rear sight in. Synthetics are drying now. I'll try to get a picture for you by the end of the day tomorrow.

I've been calling Robo Cop that since before the first movie even hit theaters. Just neutrally sounds funny. No other purpose.

Met with him yesterday. What a friendly fellow. One of those people who's happy, easy going and optimistic about everything.
