Put a 20" barrel on my AR-10 Carbine. (Lousy Pic warning)
seakrakken replied to seakrakken's topic in AR-10 Pictures
<lmao> That was an awesome flic. Balance CG is right at the front of the carry handle when mag is loaded. Mid carry handle when stock is fully extended. I put that M60 GI surplus flash hider on instead of the factory recoil brake. It really was just for looks. Maybe it will help on reducing the flash. I'll see for myself soon once I get it to the range. I'll post pics and a range report then. -
Originally a 16" carbine and just had to put a 20" barrel on. Stayed with the collapsible stock. Added a Mako Butt-Pad with Mono-Pod and Harris Bi-Pod. Redfield 3-9x50mm scope because, it is an American made quality entry level glass. Yes that is an M-60 Flash Hider on the end of the barrel. Apologies in advance for the poor quality of the pic. Used an Iphone since my kid left my camera in New Zealand.

<lmao>Thanks, I really need spellcheck sometimes.

Texas WAS open carry from 1840 until 1994. While Ann Richards was Govener of Texas the Constitution was rewritten. Bad move.

@ SHTF.308 "<thumbsup>SHTF .308 .308 is the right way to go. It has real punch, accuracy, is affordable and is easy to reload. The AR platform is easy to shoot and maintain. All in all, it is my 1st choice in all situations, ranging from plinking to EOWAWKI. Sweet thanks for the input, What type of ammo you recommend stockpiling" The only correct answer to that question is: The best you can afford. Your proposed AR-308 rifle and the ammo you select is a team. Surplus junk will always let you down. Buy premium stuff. Buy something usefull for hunting purposes. Why? Simply put, You will be more likely to shoot feral hog and dear than a looter. I do not advise advertising your piece by sitting in front of your home after a natural disaster such as a hurricane or anything similar. Evacuate like the sane people are doing. We are a long way from the gloom and doom that occupies the minds of many. Thanks to Hollywood, too many people think in terms of a world that will resemble a MadMax movie. Reality will more likely resemble the Great Depression- "Brother can you spare a dime" world if the economy does really tank. Kindness and Charity of Americans and Canadians flourished during that time. Not insanity. Folks were not shooting each other. That was mostly just in the movies. Prohibition and Elliot Ness looked great on film too. Not many folks involved in that either. I once read an article about the man responsible for inventing the television. He deeply regretted having done so. He felt it was being misused. He didn't even own one. Media is only entertainment and unfortunatly we all seem to be over influenced by what we see on television and hear on the radio. We only get to see and hear the most extreme opinions and ramblings there are. They get air time for their entertainment value only. The higher the ratings, the more likely the advertising sponsors will see higher profit margins on the product they sell. Its hard to seperate hype from reality. An example could be the Jerry Springer show. Do any of us personnaly know the guests that would appear on his show? I'm of the opinion that 99% of it was all made up! As for becoming an Isolationist in an armed compound? If you do not already have 40 acres and barbed wire, don't bother. Have some money saved in cash on hand and some basic food supplies and a good can opener and some extra gas cans you can fill up before you drive out to your cousins. This nation is so vast that there will be plenty of havens to relocate to after a disaster. So don't think in the fixed mind set of the apocalypse. That would automatically funnel your thinking during any stressfull situation. Such a fixed mind set will limit your choices and reactions, setting you up for a mistake that you will later regret. I personnaly would rather be out on a boat with a fishing rod than holed up in a log cabin armed to the teeth waiting for hoards of the hungry that want my 50ib sack of dried pinto beans and MREs. If anyone has read this far I apologise. I have on occassion found myself rambling on without any real point to make. Thanks for your patience.

<lmao> Thats great. The British and most other cultures went with their occupations. Others went with their home villages. A very few changed their Family names as they fled for their lives from the English and came to the Americas.

I'm in to Scuba. I'm an incesant tinkerer as well. Love DIY projects. I even build dive gear I built a LAR-V Clone recently.

Since I spend most of my time working I rarely get to look up and find out which way the political winds are blowing. What little I hear on the car radio when I'm driving to work or home has not been favorable. The media seems to be trying to discredit him. I'd be interested in learning more. Send me a PM about it if you are worried about stirring up a hornets nest. Bob

@ moagm316, I hear you. I have encountered the same problem. I resorted to using a bucket of solvent to soak the BCG. As it was soakung for a day I would work the bolt while it was submerged and I would see carbon fall out. I would have rather dissasembled it. According to Armalite it will be easier once a few hundred rounds have cycled.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
seakrakken replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I loved my CMMG carbine. Then someone I knew said the word Poodle-Popper. Suddenly I needed an Armalite AR-10. -
8) I just looked their website over. I know what I'll be doing! <thumbsup>

Where can I get my Armalite AR-10 coated at? And how much would something like that cost?

8) Lot of the RRA rigs! I nearly got the RRA and even put a deposit on it. When I went in a couple of months later there was an Armalite on the rack. After I got to compare the weights I went with the Armalite instead. It was just about the weight, not the quality. I was impressed with the RRA and I even had 20 FN-FAL mags on hand. It is a solid piece. After comparing the heft I decided I was too lazy to start having to work out so I could carry that one in the field on a hike for pigs. ;D I got a Redfield Revolutions 3-9x50 scope for Christmas. ;D I just got to learn it first before I jump out there with it. Once I get real familiar with it then I'll feel more comfortable in the grasslands with it. -

Thanks, Despite OK being well fortified there seems to be very few AR-10s. Maybe with some more networking I can find more. Again thanks for the welcome. -
