So, it's been a while since I've been here. Life's been busy. I've got a couple of issues that I need to work out that I didn't think about when I started my most recent "upgrade" to my 308AR. I built up a MATEN over that last year or so and then Mega comes out with the Keymod upper. Now I've got to have it. So, I started taking my upper apart last week to part it out. I sold the upper but still have to sell the Troy rail and some other stuff to be able to afford the Keymod. What I didn't realize is how hard the Keymod upper is to get ahold of right now. What sources are you guys using for yours? Where are you finding them? Is there anyone on this site offering them for sale? Also, I picked up one of the new Keis clamp on adjustable gas blocks. Has anyone used this gas block in conjunction with the Keymod upper? Does it fit? I should have thought this one out a little better before I starting parting this upper. Oh well, I guess I'm past the point of no return and it gives me any excuse to send my barrel to Nefarious Arms for some flutes. Any advice/help would be welcomed. Thanks.

I wouldn't deviate from what Mega recommends. I went with the AR-10 Vltor tube myself. It works great so far. Andy buying a spring and buffer from Armalite was cheaper too. That reminds me, I need to order some more springs from them and store them away.

I've asked around about cutting down an existing barrel and usually get negative responses. Things about barrel "concentricity" or something. I didn't see what the problem was but I'm not a gunsmith yet....

So, where all do you oil for this break-in process? Mine's pretty dry except for some grease in the upper reciever and on the BCG. What oil do you use? Mobil 1 be okay?

Problem solved!!! Just needed to be torqued a bit. When the smith went to pull the barrel the nut came off with little more force than the weight of the wrench. It's not going anywhere now. Thanks guys.

The barrel/extension looked fire prior to install. I think the extension is moving as well. I'll try to wiggle it while looking at it from the inside of the receiver. That will tell me if even the extension is moving. Will update later.

I'm going to torque it some more this weekend. Thanks for the advice.

Gents. I think I have a problem but am not sure what it is. I was tinkering with my Mega MA-10 build last night and installing a new low profile gas block. I noticed that it seemed like the barrel was moving so I investigated further. Sure enough, when you grab the barrel and do a twisting motion there is almost imperceptible movement. You can't really see it but you can feel it. There is no front to back movement though. The barrel is a *See Site News* Weaponery and the barrel nut is a Troy for my TRX-308 handguard. The nut was torqued at about 35lb pounds. Troy specs call for 30-50. What is causing this? It's not a good thing right? I have fired only about 20-30 rounds through this rifle so far. Please help.

Bought the grip and there is some fitting required for the larger backstrap. Having to sand a little to get it to fully seat. No worries though. Thanks guys.
