Here is my 3-gun upper that i built on black friday, instead of black friday shopping i did a black friday build. I just stated 3-gun shooting this year and why am i shooting my prepan ar's so i built this one it has a Dpms 18" stainless barrel 1-8 twist. I made a spit nut that goes over the barrel nut and locks into the upper. The tubing was 2"od x 1.75"id and all the fluting was done with a 1" ball nose endmill. now i need to get it anodized and put silicone grit in the finger grooves. I have to work onthe comp a little more i am still getting more muzzel rise then i want. It is hard to get use to the 3-gun hold but i am going to try it and see what happens if not i can tig weld a picattiny mount on the bottom when needed.

Cetme is a good rifle, but need to check the bolt gap to make sure it is right. Century made a bunch up that they ground the back of the bolt to get the correrct gap. If the gun shop will let you check the gap and the bolt. google how to check the gap and check the bore. Hk bought the rights from cetme and changed a few things, both are good rifles it is the poor mans HK.

I have been thinking about trying one out on my DPMS lr-308, but i will need a place to put the front sight.

MMMM 308 on rabbits, Growing up on a farm I nailed a jackrabbit from 300yrds with my M1A iron sights. Oz, I am allright just need to get a new right lenses for my glasses <thumbsup> My 12yr old son just laughed at me and shook his head. I will have to get a magpul stock on order. I was at a gun store yesterday morning and they had a dpms/308 with the 24" bull barrel and the weight wasnt that bad, Now my M1A super match is heavy. was going to pick up some primers but didnt want to pay $35/k plus tax. Went to another store and got them for $30/k with tax so i bought 5k

Thanks for the replies. Oz, I have thought about another caliber, but that is one more caliber to buy for and to reload as i have numerous other 308 guns to feed so i buy in bulk when i can. Miikedaddy, 19lbs is alot to carry and sub moa sounds good. Russ, I have a dmps lr-308 in a 16" barrel as i was shooting it this morning off a table and the stock collapsed on me and bringing the charging handle to my eyglasses, it was WTF. being the table had a v-rest for the handguard I had my left hand under the stock and my hand hit the slide release of the stock :eek:. I have a lathe and bridgeport mill in my shop and was thinking I can cut the barrel shorter and reprofile the barrel and/or flute it, but to what lenght and diameter/s without loosing any moa? What brownells wants for the complete upper doesnt seem to bad for the price, so i am keeping my options open to more ideas. Thanks Brent

Hi, Not sure where to put this at, so if it is the wrong place please move. I am wanting to build a 1000yrd ar-308, as i have a range nearby that goes out to 1200yrds, Maybe buy next year i can have this gun built. A few months ago i got in on a group buy for a Tactical Machine 80% 308 lower and was looking at the LR-308 upper with 24" bullbarrel from Brownells, but after reading on this site I am not sure what i want now. I am going to start on the upper next year so i can start saving $$$. I know thier are better barrels out thier that will do what i want but without the weight. So please point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time. Brent

Howdy, I just signed up last night and have been lurking for a little while. My name is Brent and from Kansas. I got a DPMS LR308 last year and has been more of a safe queen, I got 400rnds reloaded last week and ready to go to the range in the morning and start playing. I got in on a group by for a 80% tactical machine lower and will build it next year as $$$ come avalible for a 1000yrd rifle. I was going to buy a dpms complete SS/24" upper and cut the barrel down as needed, but not sure what i want right now after reading on this site. Till then i will just have to mod the LR308, I dont like the wide tube on the front and put a adjustable gas block on possibly a Syrac Ordance. I will have alot of questions and after reading this site i know alot of members will chime in . Thanks Brent
