  1. Hey All, I have a 18" bull barrel and as I understand it 1000 yards with a 180grn round is unlikely, but 800 yards should be no problem at all. 1- If this is incorrect please educate me. 2- would a 4-16x50 scope be good to 800 yards? What is your opinion on the proper power scope for 800 yards? LR-308 / 18" SASS Bull Barrel / 180grn match ammo Thanks,
  2. I just got my .308 7.62x51 Nickel Boron Complete Bolt Carrier Group NIB-X FA from "Harris Tactical" they still have some in stock.
  3. I just finished my SI-Defense last week. Some advice I was given here "Lots of oil/lube on break-in / do not use froglube" Not sure what your barrel manufacture recommends on break-in. But DPMS says clean and lube after every round for 20 rounds, then clean / lube after every 10 rounds for the next 80 rounds. I used a synthetic gun oil (lots of it) on every moving part, it was dripping out the holes. LOL ( I have went back to Froglube now that the break-in is over) Also, My SI-D was very tight chambered. So don't get upset if it is almost impossible to eject a live round. More advice I got here "Just shoot it" I am very happy with my SI-D. I think you will be as well. Have fun!
  4. I went with a 18" bull barrel (mid gas port) The adjustable block is nice, fully open and I was ejecting brass 4 stalls over. Keep in mind that as you break it in, you will need to re-adjust it. And when you change from lets say 147 to 180 grn you will need to adjust again.
  5. Thanks guys, especially for the froglube info. I am going to shoot / break-in this Sunday.
  6. Hello everyone, I just finished my new build. SI-D MATCHED SET 308 DPMS Lower Parts Kit DPMS SASS 18" Bull Barrel APEX HANDGUARD PRECISION ARMAMENT – MUZZLE BRAKE DPMS – AR-STYLE .308 AP4 CARBINE STOCK ASSEMBLY DPMS – FORWARD ASSIST ASSEMBLY DPMS – MAGAZINE Nickel Boron Complete Bolt Carrier Group NIB-X F / .308 7.62×51 (DPMS patteren) And I used FrogLub paste to assemble it. So now that you have an idea of what is installed, here is the problem. After I installed my BCG (last part to arrive) I cycled the rifle with nothing in it and it is smooth as silk. I decided to load the clip to make sure it ejects properly. I charge it and it is stuck? I pulled as hard as I could on the charging handle (well until I thought I would break it) and stuck... There was a small gap I could put a little screwdriver in to help the bolt carrier back while I pulled and it ejected it okay. So I think "maybe it is the round?" So I grab a new box and 1 to 2 out of every 10 do this (Stupid California 10rd limit). I looked on some other forums (AR-15) and found some info on this type of thing. Most said it tends to be an issue with 308 rifles that are mill spec parts and it just needs to be fired and broke in. So I figured I would ask your opinion now that I found a 308 forum. So what do you think?
