  1. Just updating for fun, received the 20 + 10 rd magazines. Also ordered a stripped DPMS upper, and also have a CMMG mk3 lpk and cmmg 2 stage trigger on the way as well. I've been rethinking the dark earth, and not sure if I shouldn't just go with olive drab instead as I intend to take it hunting and in Florida, not exactly a lot of desert but a whole lot of green. Don't really have to decide just yet as the lower won't be complete in manufacturing for at least another month and then some, and I can just hold onto the upper and not send it out till I make up my mind for sure.
  2. Hello, I'm in Florida too (Tampa)
  3. Thanks, i'm bookmarking that one :)
  4. tell him to get a walther p22 at least then he'll have something reliable.
  5. they look kind of interesting, sort of inbetween some of the more "sniper" oriented and the standard buttstocks. The cheek rest section doesn't move even while the shoulder part does.
  6. So just to be 100% clear, other than maybe the magazine catch (which could still work), it should work in a dpms style lower?
  7. Does anyone know whats different in the armalite and dpms lower parts kit? I found a place that has armalite lower parts kits at a realistic price with a 2 stage trigger, and don't really mind if I have to buy a few parts given the price.
  8. virtually impossible to buy one for that price currently. You can probably build one for around that, but it will take a while to get it all together as plenty of stuff is backordered.
  9. Thanks, that helps clarify it for me. Its a little rough right now finding parts at all to complete this so i'm making sure I understand what has to absolutely be a 308 part, and what may work fine as a 223 part when I do come across things in stock.
  10. I could use some clarification on buffer tubes. What it looks like is the AR-15 standard for mil spec is 7", and the 308 standard is 7.75". But I've seen commercial spec AR tubes as long as 7 7/8. Will that still work if I replace the buffer + spring? Or is even the regular 7" long enough?
  11. I've got a stripped lower and was wondering if there is any noticeable difference between the CMMG one stage trigger in their parts kit and the DPMS standard on with their parts kit. The CMMG costs $15-20 more, but I did find a place that has them in stock.
  12. Moreso I'm looking for manufacturers/gunsmiths who will put together a cerakoted upper with my choice of barrel etc. The lower is a DPMS compatible from Shadow Ops Weaponry. I'm looking for someone who does something like RGuns does with the .223, but in 308. http://www.rguns.net/rifles/rifles-semiauto-ar15-uppers-556-barrel.shtml Or a custom shop who can put it together. I don't have fear of anything on the lower, but installing the barrel has me a little concerned. Or tell me i'm over reacting, as I have found places with stripped DPMS uppers :D
  13. Hello all, I've wanted an AR rifle, but always faced the tossup of what particular specs I wanted. It seemed like any of the setups the way I really preferred (bigger caliber, longer bull barrel, etc) also drove the price through the roof, even in the past. It was hard to justify spending what a pre-made one like that ran. But now with whats happening, its either move it or loose it. So I at least have a couple magazines and a Shadow Ops Weaponry 308 ceracoted in dark earth lower on the way. I've got a couple of questions, but I'll ask those in the appropriate area. Mostly related to buttstocks + triggers. I'm sure once I'm actually ready to add the upper and find one, i'll have more questions on that as well.
