  1. Yup. That's a hijack! Rude! I still feel like my puppy died since February :-(
  2. I had no intention of hijacking a thread. Any other message forum I have ever been a member of has always prefered using the search function to find an existing thread for answers to your questions or for continued discussion about a topic rather than creation of a possibly redundant thread. If that's frowned upon here and I should have made an entirely new thread, my apologies. Also, my understanding of the term thread hijacking refers to starting any entirely different discussion in a thread someone else started, not continuing the discussion in an existing thread about said thread's topic. If things are different around here, this would be the first place I ever encountered in about 15 years that this is the case. My issue was a fired round being ejected and two new rounds coming up into the chamber.
  3. After cleaning out my rifle extremely well that's my next stop. When my misfeeds happened it was with two Magpul 20 rounders that I bought over the holidays and had only used once before. Would leaving the mag loaded while not being used potentially cause the issue? I hope not. I bought the Magpuls because they're supposed to have better components.
  4. Thanks guys. I didn't think the stock could be the issue, but I wont claim to be terribly knowledgeable so I wasn't sure. I couldn't think of any physical way it could cause an issue unless it was somehow interfering with the spring within the buffer tube, but that seems impossible.
  5. Just curious. Switching out a butt stock over the existing buffer tube shouldn't cause any kind of ammo feeding issues? Would it? I visited the range for the first time in a month shortly after I put on a Magpul STR buttstock and a Magpul pistol grip & she jammed on me twice with the first misfeeds I've ever experienced with my LR-308. I have to think it was just a coincidence, but it got me to thinking. I have since done a major cleaning on it & will be taking it back to see if it happens again.
  6. Well here's the DMPS LR-308 with the grip off, the MIAD on and the MIAD's box specs
  7. I received the MAID Gen 1.1 that I ordered and it fits my LR-308. It was an extremely tight fit, but a fit nonetheless. I'll post up some pics soon of my rifle with the grip on and of the model specs on the Magpul box for the MIAD. I ordered the type 1, not the type 2.
  8. Lots of goodies on their way to people in here! I just ordered a Magpul MIAD grip, a Magpul STR buttstock, a grip core and a picatinny riser mount for my scope.
  9. Midwest Industries has specific DPMS products now. I have their 2 piece carbine length handguard on my Oracle and it fits like a glove, but they also make 2 different free floats specifically for DPMS. http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1207
  10. Thank you for the replies! I went ahead and ordered the Type 1 Gen 1.1, so we'll soon see if it fits. If it doesn't, then it will be exchanged for the Type 2. Either way, I'll surely post pics of my LR-308 with the old grip off & the MIAD on.
  11. Hello, sorry to resurrect this thread. However, I am trying to find out whether the Type 1 or Type 2 Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 grip will fit my DPMS LR-308. I contacted Magpul and wasn't able to get a very great answer. The details for the Type 2 grip say that it's for 7.62x51 confirgurations, but I've also read elsewhere that the Type 1 fits some 308s as well. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  12. Just ordered a Midwest Industries drop in quad rail for my Sportical. They had been out of stock for months, but I finally saw that Midway USA just restocked them
  13. On second thought, I don't think that will fit given it's advertised for an AR15/M4
  14. Thank you for all the help guys!
  15. I've tried installing it delta ring side first and gas block side first. Either way it doesn't fit right because the inside of the 2 pieces of the quad rail isn't big enough on the delta ring side for it to fit properly. I will check out the Magpul handguards, but I have a feeling I will end up just waiting for the Midwest Industries rail that's designed for the sportical to get back in stock.
  16. It's 2 pieces, top & bottom. I found what I need, only it's sold out everywhere. Although, I have found it listed for about $130 in various places. Guess I'll just have to wait until they are back in stock http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=292
  17. I think I might just sell off the Firefield rail on eBay or something & get one that is meant to fit. Any suggestions on a shorter carbine length 308 quad rail that won't break the bank?
  18. I appreciate the quick reply! So, no ring at all, just take it off & nothing goes over the barrel nut? I was also kind of thinking that the rail was for an AR15. Not sure why it would have been bundled along with the rifle when I bought it. Maybe the dealer sent the wrong one in error.
  19. My apologies if this is a redundant thread. I literally have been searching the forum since yesterday afternoon and haven't found what I'm trying to figure out, however it's entirely possible that I'm not using the correct terminology due to be new to ARs. I have a DPMS 308 Sportical that came with the factory handguard & a Firefield 6.7inch quad rail. Factory hand guard: Firefield quad rail: It appears as though the existing barrel nut is too thick for the quad rail as when I try to fit the two pieces into place the ends of the rail closest to the slip/delta ring end up being too far apart to screw together. The only way to make it fit is to move the gas block forward a bit and then the ends of the rail nearest the slip/delta ring actually end up just ahead of the ring, but that would end up causing a pressure issue of the rifle not chambering a new round after being fired due to the gas block not being over the gas hole in the top of the barrel in the correct position. I am unsure if the Firefield rail just isn't meant to fit my 308 or if I need to put on a different barrel nut & slip/delta ring? If it's just that I need a new/different barrel nut & slip/delta ring I am unsure of what I need/what would fit my rifle. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! This is the existing nut & ring: This is the gas block: I have found this nut https://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186675&CAT=4211, but I am unsure of whether it would do what I need. I have also found this nut http://www.midwayusa.com/product/748354/yankee-hilll-machine-free-float-tube-handguard-barrel-nut-aluminum-matte, but am unsure if it would fit/work for my 308.
