subwofer2 replied to subwofer2's topic in For Sale or Trade
If you look around most guys are asking $200 OR MORE for 5. Perhaps I was wanting to sell all six to one buyer, but created an option for others who do not want them all, which requires a greater shipping cost and potentially an issue for me to find a buyer who only wants 2. -

Heavy Buffer and Spring from Heavy Buffers.com
subwofer2 replied to concretus's topic in For Sale or Trade
I bought this from the seller on AFRCOM - Currently installed and untested in my rig. -
Is anyone running a Delta PRI Tube on this .308? I'm fairly sure I'll be swapping for a longer tube soon, the shorter one will then be up for sale. :-) Current = https://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186636&CAT=4820 Considering = https://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186649&CAT=4820 or Considering = https://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186616&CAT=4823 I do have a concern since my DPMS upper is one of the lower variants. Meaning the current rail on the PRI tube is about 1/16" (or was it 1/8") higher than the rail on the receiver. The Delta tube has better clearance for gas blocks, I'm not sure if this translates into a higher rail... I'll be calling PRI. I will also be asking if I can simply swap tubes, therefore the new nut and locking ring PRI will ship with the longer tube will be available nib with the shorter tube I intend to sell.

Heck yeah!

Thanks again for working with me blue! I'm considering going longer and a delta too. The wrench for the PRI Tube was supposed to be included with my rifle but it wasn't in the package, seller told me he'd look around for it but I have not heard from him since. I'm going to shoot it as is and decide.

Can't wait to shoot her!

Blue109 was awesome to deal with. My rifle is now wearing his old PRS stock. Can't wait to get her to the range. Will post a picture tomorrow.

Falcon Optics? Anyone using one on their setup?
subwofer2 replied to subwofer2's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
You've got that right. In the long run it's only money. The free loaders can watch from the sidelines, they all want to shoot the fidy anyways. -

:'( Well, haven't even sent the payment yet but I went with the Nightforce. Missed a SICK deal on a Nightforce F1 with FFP and the MLR2 which I love for the same price as the used NF I'm going to pick up. I hope the seller decided not to sell because I think I would have liked that scope more. I will be very happy with this setup, no doubt. Not happy about what I'm spending though.... even at the price I'm paying it still more than I wanted to spend at the moment. Anyways, thanks for letting a guy whine in public. :binkybaby: Edit: payment sent. -
Falcon Optics? Anyone using one on their setup?
subwofer2 replied to subwofer2's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
My first FO was purchased from RW Snyder Gunsmithing in Iowa, but he no longer sells them. He recommended SWFA.com so I'll go with them. They have impressed me in the past too. I'm still considering the burn my bank account will take on the NF. Something tells me the NF will be able to handle the recoil better, especially with a FCS30 brake installed. -

Works great, a little top heavy even with the laminate stock I upgraded but she has never tipped over. I like the FO, I did play a little in a snow storms at 200yds once from a covered position, just working the bolt and dropping the hammer as fast as I could with 40gr Win FMJs resulted in a nice 6" 15rd group. I don't get out to often with the ol gal, she was the first rifle I ever owned, no idea on the round count but she's not going anywhere. The FO has done pretty well for me in the past. -
I'm kind of a buy once cry once kinda guy, so here I am, the only thing really keeping me from what I REALLY want to put on a DPMS SASS I have not even had my hands on yet is a money. I run a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56mm MLR mil/mil HS ZS (SFP) on my AR50-A1 I run a Falcon Optics 4-14x44mm ML16 mil/mil (FFP) on my Marlin 882SSV .22mag I'm between a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 MLR mil/mil HS ZS (SFP) or a Falcon Optics 5-25x50 ML16 mil/mil (FFP) for this SASS. I'll be using a LaRue QD LT104 mount for this application. I do not expect to be able to shoot much beyond 300m with most shots less than 200m. I'm wondering if anyone has more experience with the Falcon Optics 5-25x50 ML16 mil/mil (FFP) they might be willing to share with me. The biggest issue potential I see with this setup is beyond 700m. The total internal adjustment of the FO is under 20 mRad, the NF is better. The 44mm FO is nearly the same as the NF in 50mm. I had the 44 on an M14 for a little while, I decided I wanted to go a little bigger, which is why I haven't already ordered another 44. Thanks!

MOST important piece of advice is to get yourself an optic with matching reticle and turrets. Meaning, if you have a MRAD reticle, your turrets should be mil/mil. I'm a mil/mil kind a guy. I like the metric side of the house because I can do a lot of the calcs in my head easier. I'm not so good with the Mil-dot. My advise is to do a little research on how to actually shoot and range with both types and use the system your most comfortable with. There are some programs light Long Range Shooter for your computer out there where you can actually simulate shooting with different calibers at different ranges and in variable winds. This is where I first learned the mil system and haven't looked back since.

Thanks everyone! It is truly and honor to be serving my country. This is only my third overseas deployment and my fifth overall. I'm terrible excited about this weapon system. I have high hopes this will be my second most accurate rifle. As time goes on I will share more about my collection, which I for the first time am truly considering over hauling. I have a very capable weapon I use for the matches, it gets the most attention at the moment and because the projectiles can carry a payload she is not anywhere near the "potential sale column". As for the others, a third are mil-surp, 2/3’s of the rest are mainly com-block semi-autos or ARs and the remainder are smaller caliber plinkers. I’m not one to sell anything, not exactly a hoarder but when I see a good deal for something I’ve wanted I have trouble stopping myself. Since I left home I have purchased more than one “toy”. My wife is wonderful but she is also not in the least bit interested in my hobby and love for anything involving shooting. We were forced to delay out celebration for our 10th anniversary when I’ve been away. I’m making up for this by treating her, our daughter and my mother-in-law to a trip to Boston (all travel arrangements finalized Thursday before the bombing of the race). A year ago I was a serious collector, if I was able to seal a deal on the field gear to go with a collectible bang stick I would order said item. I’m running out of space and funds fast. I’m going to set a goal to thin the herd 50% by the end of summer. This will include extra gear and the funds will be going back into the house/family. The addition of the LRT SASS was a third of what I have shelled out for fun stuff since October, a fair amount considering my income. So, here I am spilling my mind for some new friends. As for mods, I’m already planning to install the UBR and a MIAD grip in my favorite color, OD green. I also purchased a Geissele SSA-E trigger for the AR build I was working on, but this SASS has replaced the Noveske upper I was considering. Now I’m going to be considering .308 dies, trimmer, crimp die, large rifle primers, Varget and 175gr SMKs so I can try out the previous owner’s pet load.

I originally located my “membership card” to this forum a few days ago on snipershide and then minutes later on AR15 too. After a bit of looking at the sellers old posts about this weapon system I was lead here where I found the ad again, only I’m happy to report the thread is marked sold because I’m the buyer! I have never even handled an AR in 308 but I am a weapons collector of many types and have participated in 1000yd FCSA matches at Alliance, NE. This is not my first semi .308 but I’m already expecting to be placing a number of items up for sale just as soon as I get home from me current overseas deployment. I truly believe my new SASS will be filling a precision void I have had and a number of collectibles will be on the out (Yugo M76 in 8mm for example). I had a nice conversation with the seller before we closed our deal and already have a pet load to try once I acquire some additional gear as I’m not currently setup to reload .308, but in the mean time I’ll be spend some time with family and friends waiting for the market to mellow too. I look forward to learning from the fellows who have already tried and failed where I’m starting fresh. My only plans after running a few tests rounds after taking delivery will be to install a Magpul MIAD grip and UBR stock, already on hand for a 556 build I’m happy to step away from. Thanks in advance to the Mods, management and all the members, Sub
