  1. I contacted Discover and they are investigating. They have also given me a temporary credit. I have decided to chalk this one up to "Lessons Learned" and carry on. Now waiting on DPMS uppers.
  2. Thanks for the positive thoughts. In answer to what payment method I used Discover. I have had limited dealings with Discover, haven't contacted them yet as I think more than half a year is stretching things. I will however and see what happens. Didn't know about that F rating. Well, not going to cry over spilt uppers. I am glad that this has stopped Sisco from investing with them. Hopefully no one else will either.
  3. Well it is time for me to confess to being ripped off by these guys. www.nwprecision.org. They took my order, and my money for two .308 uppers back in November of last year. Multiple emails always got the same response, " Item on backorder". When I got fed up in the early part of July I asked for a delivery date or a refund. Tried again weeks later, no refund, no parts, no answer at all. I got ripped off I just want to warn everyone here to avoid these guys. If I am breaking any rules or if this is posted in the wrong spot I hope a moderator will move or remove it. Just tired and angry at having been conned.
  4. Thanks guruofhotrod and FaRKle. I suspected the buffer as I did not know of the length difference. My mistake. Will replace with the correct buffer and spring. Thanks again gentlemen.
  5. I have been building my first .308 AR piece by piece to save on cost. I will describe the problem then I will list the possible culprits. Drawing back the bolt with the charging handle all seems well, engage bolt stop, OK so far. NOPE, the bolt catch is catching on the bolt carrier and not on the face of the bolt. Disassemble and check, the bolt carrier will not travel far enough into the buffer tube for the bolt face to clear the bolt stop. The bolt face is about 1/2" forward of the bolt stop. My parts, with dimensions, are as follows: REDX arms bolt carrier 7 7/8" long. With bolt installed and pulled forward 8 7/8'' long. UTG Heavy buffer for .308 carbine 3 1/4" long. JSE Surplus .308 carbine spring 11" long. Mil spec Black Hawk buffer tube from Palmetto State Armory 71/4" outside length, 7" inside length. After all my reading and questions here and at other forums I thought I was proceeding correctly. I milled out an 80%Arms lower, bought a REDX arms upper, put in a Black Hole 308 barrel from Surplus Arms and Ammo, CMMG lower kit from 80% arms, added a CMC trigger and torqued and checked and fussed as best I could. Would someone check the length of their bolt carrier to see if mine is too long? Did I make a mistake with the mill spec buffer tube? The Heavy buffer? The spring? Was I supposed to sacrifice a goat on the alter of .308? I would appreciate any help with this as there is some sort of simple noob error here. Thanks
  6. Just reread my last post, sorry meant a 2x6. Need more coffee.
  7. I used my old bench and mounted my RCBS junior on a 2x12 that was slightly warped. I ran the the 2x12 from the front to the back of the bench and slid the far end under a steel bracket bolted to the studs in the wall of my garage. Then I clamped the near end to the lip of the bench with an over hang of about 1 inch then bolted the press to the 2x12. The idea is to make it sturdy and removable. My old work bench is attached to the wall but this method would give you a lot of down force.
  8. Never had a primer blow out on any of my weapons, but thanks for the heads up on the tweezers for the range bag. Might also look into one of those cans of compressed air. For making interesting lines in the sand.
  9. We already have steel shot, teflon coated iron might be next.
  10. Thank You FaRKle. Always appreciate any warnings. Went with the Blackhole Weaponry barrel after all.
  11. Have been following up on about 2 weeks worth of research to get the parts for my DPMS compatible .308 build. Best bargain was at Chiefs Supply. They have 30% off selected merchandise and free shipping. Got the CMC trigger I wanted, well actually picked up a couple as my 300 blackout has a grainy trigger. Ordered my barrel, Blackhole Weaponry 18 " mid length gas port from Surplus Ammo and Arms. Other sources were Amazon, Red X and R guns. My Credit card is feeling very abused right now. Hope to start my build soon and will keep you all informed.
  12. Thank you edgecrusher and Lancer1 for the response. I believed I was right but was seeking word from more experienced builders. Thanks. Have since been distracted by an 18 inch barrel from Core 15 systems for the same price. Still leaning towards the SSA barrel. Will continue to price around and will let you all know how my build goes.
  13. Hello, just starting a DPMS pattern .308 build and will be asking questions here as I stumble along.
  14. Greetings all. Just joined and will be posting questions as I stumble along. Looking to build a DPMS pattern .308 AR over the next few months. I hope to take advantage of the Black Friday sales. One thing that I have found that has me a little confused, no real help from the sales rep, concerns a Black Hole 18" barrel for sale at Surplus Ammo and Arms. It states the barrel was designed for an Armalite mid length gas tube. ??? Visited Armalites page and their mid length AR15 gas tubes are listed as 11.75, same as everyone elses. Could not find any references to an Armalite Mid Length .308 gas tube. So is there any difference in mid length gas tubes? Might just give this barrel a pass unless someone here can help me. Thanks in advance.
  15. Just joined. Will be asking some noob questions so be patient with me.
