  1. That tac12a1 looks pretty sick.
  2. Yeah I thought they might not like my muzzle brakes concussion. But I like concussion. Maybe it's from the explosives in my younger years. Just something about it that makes me smile.
  3. Yes I am very proud of my rifle. I've noticed the ar15 guys seem to be drawn to it. And the bolt guys do tend to give harsh looks. Especially when you get caught up in the moment and start letting a lot more lead fly down range. And I especially get bad looks from the guys that like to take turns pulling triggers.
  4. You won't find a better forum for 308.
  5. Thanks guys . and you're right blue..
  6. I'm gonna break the ice by posting a picture of my lr-308 today because she hit the 500 round mark. After all it was the help and knowledge 308ar members that made it happen. I read through a lot of old threads. So I knew what parts were compatible. And 308ar members even helped me diagnose a 4" group problem."My barrel but needed to be re-torqued after a couple of hundred rounds". Ice breaker is mostly dpms except for ace stock. Hogue grip. Mega Arms 18" barrel. Muzzle brake. And rail. Well I guess you could say half dpms. She hit the 500 round mark today and I've only had 1 FTE on round 70ish. With no other problems. I even ran some cheap steel through her . no problems. But I put her together the way I wanted mine. I've fired a couple other 308s since assembling mine and both were heavier. Less accurate. Kicked harder. And they. Paid almost twice as much for theirs. Thank you forum308ar I'm proud to call myself a member. Semper Fi.
  7. I've got the mega 18" chamber was tight to begin with . I chambered about 5 different kinds. All were tight. I lapped the chamber before firing with bore brite. Headspaced fine before and after lapping. Everything runs fine. Sub 1 moa at 100 just like advertised.
  8. I was waiting for someone to pick up on that.
  9. That makes sense. In my opinion it wouldn't hurt to have a tight rod down the center.
  10. I had a problem with another manufacturer. It was supposed to ship in three days. Two months later after countless emails . phone calls and them blaming it on anodizing. I demanded a refund . and they did. Lucky me. I would contact NCP first. Then credit card company. If stll no luck . their local prosecuting attorney.
  11. I'll remember that. Thanx guys . you've helped tremendously.
  12. The wood jig fit snugly around upper. The wood block fully enclosed upper so some pressure from vise was transfered directly to wood. While some pressure was on upper I don't think anything on upper was damaged or deformed. 300 rounds through it and I've had one fail to eject while next round was chambered.
  13. Hey guys I didn't mention how I secured my upper so I wanted to show you. First I cut a chunk of 4 x 4 . Then I drilled a hole through the center lengthwise. Next I cut jig in half lengthwise. Then I scribed the two halves for fairly snug fit. Picture is from initial assembly. Not shown I fastened 2 piece's of hard wood 1 x 4 's and fastened them to sides that vice squeezes. It held great in heavy duty old school lion head vice. With no damage to finish.
  14. Here's a picture of target shooting 165 gr. Fusion. Looks like hunting ammo. Bottom two holes I was still adjusting scope. I think it was mostly the loose barrel nut causing the poi to shift. And I know my Mega 18" barrel likes the heavy rounds. I'm Very impressed myself. Baby's not sick no more. Thanx 308.com forum members. You guys are great!!!
  15. So here's the update: This morning first thing I did was strip it down to the upper, barrel but and barrel. I loosened up barrel nut rhen tightened. Then repeated a couple of times. 80 lbs. Was between holes so I backed it off till holes ligned up.after tightening barrel nut I could tell it was one hole tighter tan originally. Reassembled upper and put the wedge in. Washguy can you post a picture of your o-ring. It sounds like a great idea. So I couldn't track down any 168 gr. But I found some 165 gr. After hitting the range.I decided to shoot some 150 gr. And 145 gr. First. 150 gr. Was hitting. 2 moa. 145 gr. 3 moa. And I'm sure you could give me some room for error as I was shooting off bipods. And blue. I left bipod legs collapsed all the way in. After looking at them I thought it may be possible legs could push back in under pressure.
  16. It could be the bipod. I'll shoot off a bag also today. Thanx blue
  17. Thanx guys I'll definitely keep you informed

  19. She's sick but I'm proud of her.
  20. I recently assembled my first lr-308. I have assembled a few ar's with no issues all three ran around 1 to 1 1/2 groups at 100 yds.On Bipods. Not the case with my 308. Before ordering parts I knew accuracy is a must so I sprung for the mega 18" guaranteed sub 1 moa at 100. Before I got my scope in I sighted in with mbus sights. 4" groups was my best. I thought it was me and I needed a scope. So I put a brand new redfield battlezone. 3 x 9 x 42 and for a base I used a nikkon m-223 1 piece mount. The scope has bdc for 168 gr. Bullet. I ran PMC 145 gr. And winchester 150 gr. Both with same results. I also ran a bore snake through a few times between mags. It seemed the first couple were very tight after allowing to cool. Then as it got hotter the poi would shift. I really don't think its the scope because same results were seen with open sights at 50 yds. I also triple checked scope mount bolts for torque . It is possible that my barrel nut may be a little loose the holes aligned up at 30 lbs of torque even after loosening and tightening it several times. But my free float rail won't move by twisting it by hand. And there is some play between upper and lower. Tomorrow I will remove rail and gas tube and recheck barrel nut torque (several times I'm sure), and I have an extra wedge so I'll put that in. And I will also try and run down some heavier bullets pref. 168 gr.and I will try it again at 100 yds. And I known it ain't me cause I had no problems performing with the ar today. I was shooting a mag. Of 308 then a mag of .223 rotating back and forth between weapons on different targets. 223 2" groups all day long. .308 4" the best prolly closer to 6" Again it seems the poi is moving. A coople or three will be close then poi shifts. Please help. This is my first .308 and I'm very proud of it and I know its capable of performing better. Any ideas or help is very appreciated You guys have helped me make sure I ordered the right parts. Please help again and let's make this thing a heyholer!!
  21. Thanks guys it'll be a couple of weeks before I can get to longer range to test bdc dial. 100 yd. Zero today. I finally get to see how accurate my .lr-308 is today first scope on it. I sprung for the mega 18" barrel guarantee's under 1 moa accuracy at 100 yds. Today will be the day.
  22. 3 x 9 x 42. 168gr. 308 500 yd. Marked turret
  23. I was going for the hawke but I changed my mind in the red field. I know its not the best scope on the market for my panther but for 200.00 I thought it was hard to beat .. I'm headed to. The range to zero in tomorrow. Has anyone else here experience'd the redfield??
  24. Does any one have a PDF for wind drift on .308 preferably 168g. And 145 g.?
  25. Update Seekins replied to my email and said that to check back with them after they release their own .308 then after they release it they will be offering individual parts. I guess I'll have to wait
