DEER HUNTER

I figure if it'll reach out to 500-600 yards I'm good with it. I just ordered a Geiselle SSA-E trigger for this rifle and my 6.5 Grendel. I know for fact the Grendel will shoot 600 Yards, I've done it.

I have a new AP4 with a Trijicon 2.5-10-56 that I bought for deer hunting as well as SHTF. But I was just curious what kind of range y'all are getting out of these badboys. I zeroed mine at 200 yards with Hornady Whitetail 150 gr and 300 yards was a breeze. I keep reading about this NOT being a good long distance rifle on the net but I'm pretty happy thus far. I know it wont hang with my Classic 20 but im curious what kind of long range distances everyone is shooting?

I hunt occasionally with my crossbows and while I have no kills under my belt with it I know Muzzy's are bad a$$.

That's me to, whatever I have at the time. But I know a lot of guys have dedicated varmint/predator rifles. Typically 5.56/.223 &/or 22-250.

I'm partial to the 150 gr Hornady superformance SSTs in my DPMS Classic 20 &Savage Bolt gun, but my new AP4 prefers the Hornady Whitetail 150 gr soft points. The SSTs are devastating on Whitetails.

I'd like to try elk sometime in the near future, good shot.

What caliber y'all using for yotes? 5.56 or .308?

If you're gonna shoot 600+ yards I say Hornady Superformance 150 gr SSTs. Its a flat shooting deer killer.

I shot this one morning while deer hunting, he was chasing some turkeys. 2 seconds more and there would've been two laying there.

I considered the 6.8 spc as well but I decided against it for the 6.5 Grendel. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have 6.8 spc as well but that's just another caliber I'd have to stock up on. Its a good long distance rifle on small to medium game, I shot a doe at 425 yards three years ago with it.

I'll be taking out my new AP4 .308 tomorrow and try to get me another one.

I've been hunting seriously for about 10 years and this one I shot last week is the best I've managed to bag. He's better then the ones I've got on the wall so he currently sits at the taxidermist. He was a 3 1/2 yr old buck and he scored 125, not bad for a South Georgia deer.

Hey everyone I'm new to the site but not new to the AR 15 & AR 10 type platform. I just wanted to introduce myself & as my moniker implies I'm a Deer Hunter. I just purchased my 2nd DPMS rifle recently, the AP4 in .308. I put a 2.5-10-56 Trijicon Acupoint on it. I love my Classic 20" but its hard to maneuver in a tree stand without banging it on the rails, the AP4 doesn't have that issue. Anyway hello.
