  1. I highly recommend the set screw version as a more reliable mounting option when done correctly. IE: Install block and tighten set screws, remove one set screw, drill a dimple into barrel, install set screw with thread locker, remove other set screw and repeat. Ensure your gas port is lined up with the gas block's port before drilling. There is normally a gap between the block and the barrel shoulder (space for a handguard cap if used).
  2. Exactly. Try again with extractor removed. You will still have to compress the ejector or remove it, too.
  3. Yup! I left the trigger spring tweaked and returned the hammer spring back to normal. All better now.
  4. I tweaked the hammer spring on my PSA 308 to improve it and I was getting light strikes. Something that wasn't a problem on my AR-15s. Went back to full spring tension until I decide on an aftermarket trigger. Let us know which triggers you like of your collection, SuzukiRay!
  5. Good idea. I shall try and get back to you.
  6. Gosh, I sure hope so!
  7. For a $5 pin Armalite wants $20 to ship it to me! I think I'll be making my own, haha.
  8. You are correct. http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=EA1170&Category=0db4d594-2661-45e9-b54d-c537311725f1 Thanks! I'll probably go this route.
  9. Maybe I'll be okay... "GI spec paracord is easy to work with, cut and melt and features inner nylon cords are made from high-tenacity, light resistant and heat-resistant polyamide with a melting point of 244 degrees Celsius." About 470F
  10. I think you're right about it melting. I looked at it closely afterwards and it's just barely touching the gas tube. Not sure on the melting temp of paracord but that gas tube gets toasty. 5.56 AR's use a small C clip to prevent the dust cover pin from walking rearward. Not needed on the 308 as the rear hole in the receiver is blind. I'm considering removing the pin and welding an extension on. Or finding 4.5" of .125" diameter steel pin...
  11. Thanks for the heads up on that dust port cover. Here is the link for anyone interested: http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/ejection-port-cover-parts/ejection-port-cover-assemblies/pin-less-ejection-port-cover-assemblies-prod73296.aspx I came up with a temporary repair for the time being. I gutted a length of paracord and wrapped it around the threaded portion of the receiver and tied it. It stops the ejection port cover pin from walking forward enough to prevent it from falling out. Crude, but it works. I'm thinking I might make a longer dust cover pin or cutting a groove to install a C clip. Here is a pic of what I have now:
  12. I just experienced this on my PSA 308 AR after I installed the MI handguard. The gap created here allowed my dust cover pin to walk forward while shooting and come out of it's rear pin locator hole. The dust cover stayed attached but it looked like it was about to fall off. I have not found a solution yet. It appears your rifle does not have a dust cover, correct?
