Ten rounds over the magnetospeed: 2739 SD-13 ES=42 for 155 TMK with 42 grains of AR-Comp. Five rounds of 41 grains of AR-Comp and 168 TMK: 2630 SD-9 ES-21 I have some work to do yet on the 155 load as that is more ES than I want for long range use. I took a guess at the 168 load and tried 40.8, 41 and 41.2... 40.8 shot the best on my 300 yard target with very little vertical.
There are two holes in one at 4 o'clock on the 42 grain load. Also, the real wide shot on 41.6 is 100% me getting the wind dialed in. The barrel is a 20" Criterion.
Thought I'd bump an old thread. I decided to give AR-comp a go with 155 sierra TMK's in my 20" AR. The above target dots are 2" and this was at 300 yards, 5 shots each. 42 grains of AR-comp appeared to be the most consistent. I plan to take that load back out and check the velocity and 700 yard performance in the coming days. Also, 40-40.2 grains was my overall best load of AR-comp with 175 smk's. That and the loads above were in Lapua brass so if you are using something with more case capacity like Winchester you will want to add a few tenths of a grain... usually about .3 IME
Thanks, its a fun gun. The factory 243 barrel that came with it was okay, but on the slow side for a 243 chamber. Accuracy was running right around MOA, sometimes a touch less and other times a little more.
Someone say Ruger Precision Rifle here? I picked up a 243 back in September... Called Josh up at Patriot Valley Arms and now it wears a 26" 6.5x47 Lapua barrel and shoots crazy good when I can... 140 berger hybrid at 700y, 4 went into 1 3/4" Fifth shot opened up my vertical a bit. 20 rounds of berger 140 hybrid love ready for action Loaded up some 139L with 40.5 grains of H4350 and seated 3.200 on my gauge. This should put me about .025 off the lands, IIRC. Fist shots confirmed zero then ran 5 over the magnetospeed So the load has sped up nicely. 2825 SD/4 ES/10 for five. That done I settled down and shot a 5 shot group at 1000... need to work on my wind game... Banged some steel from kneeling at 600 then decided to attempt to go for 1000 from kneeling while slung up... need to do this a bit more. 3 out of 5 on a 36" plate.
