Thats it. Play between receivers and that gap is closed the bolt will lock back. I think if i can find or make a JP tension pin it will work.

Yea i dunno. It works like i said. The play seems extreme between the receivers. The only way i can get the bolt to lock back is with the accu wedge out and me holding the receivers tight together. Double check on my bolt catch and is definitely a 308 catch. I open up my ar15 to compare.

Yea it holds without manually holding the catch in with empty mag. Not to happy with the BCG on my upper.

Yea if i hold the upper down to the lower it will hold.

Yea mag is in. I might try buying a different bolt catch. They are cheap enough.

As soon as i hold down on the upper and close that gap. The bolt will catch and stay open.

Yea sorry for late response. Got home late. Yea pins are tight in lower. Upper lugs have little bit of play with pins

Yea i might still do it. But im not one to give up so easy and i like the challenge a lil bit.

Yea i was thinking of just ordering a stripped lower but that kind of defeats the purpose. I can probably make a tension pin but was hoping to take the lazy way out. Have quite some time into this project.

This is a home built project.Dpms pattern. Sota arms 18" complete upper 1/11 twist BHW SS barrel with welded/ pinned muzzle. 80% lower is DPMS pattern but not sure what brand.

There is a hugh gap with accu wedge in place and can clearly see day light between the receivers.

Well im not 100% but its the low profile upper rail and lower fits beautiful when pushed together. Everything else functions normal.

So, I know i going to hear that its ok to live with some play between the upper and lower receivers. Well i have dpms pattern i beleive gen 2. The play is so bad that the bolt wont catch / stay open with an accu wedge in place. Without if held down the bolt catches and stays open. Tried finding JP tension pin but they are discontinue. Open to any suggestions??????? Thanks

Hey guys im new here im sure a lot of my questions have been already asked. Building a 18" 308 dpms med range set up. I have broken down my AR15 and put back together many of times. Never built one. Im going to use BHW 308 1/11 barrel . What length gas system and how does that effect any other of my choices???? I only have an upper receiver.
