So, I understand that Armalite and AR308 (DPMS) aren't completely compatible. However, are the receiver extensions/buffers/springs? I need to get a buffer/tube/spring for my Aero build, and there's some makes out there I know nothing of, however Armalite is a known quality.

Yeah, I just found out they make a Type 1 (MAG520) and a Type 2 (MAG521...which is what I got from Primary). Evidently, I need the type 1 backstraps.

Ok, so I'm gradually getting this thing together. Anyway, I went to install my MIAD 1.1 today, and it wouldn't fit without a gap between the grip and receiver. I think the curve of the "beavertail" doesn't match the receiver, as it works with the flat non-beavertail backstrap (which is ugly and uncomfortable). Anyone else have this issue? Issue of the grip or the receiver? Any chance Magpul might have another backstrap? Any good ideas for trimming the backstrap that won't look like a dog's ass?

Also, quick question....are all the Criterion barrels dimpled for the gas block?

There are slots in the 6 o'clock position. The AP stud is nowhere to be found as the co. went tits up. They made very good stuff though, popular with the 3-gun crowd. I think what killed them was it was too much of a niche market combined with their prices... I emailed Lancer to see if their bipod stud would work. It looks almost identical, and they make great stuff too. Its going on an Aero M5 upper.

Ok, so I have an Aero M5 set on the way for my first "big" AR. I'm pretty set on .308 (I just don't have access to the range to take advantage of the 6.5 CM). Anyway, I'm barrel shopping and somewhat overwhelmed. What are some of the more "Wallet Friendly" choices? This is going to be a rifle for fun, but precision would be top priority. I'd love a Krieger/Bartlein/JP, but I just can't swing the money. I'd like 20". So, some of my considerations are.... Criterion Hybrid from Brownells...or maybe one from FA (I'm concerned though because there were a few reports in the big Aero thread on ARF, about the Criterion barrels fitting loosely in some M5 uppers). Also what is the accuracy like on the Criterion chrome lined barrels? Rainier Rock Creek Faxon BA Mega BHW Mega X-caliber CMMG Any better than any others? Any to avoid? Any that are known to have a "tight fit" in an M5 upper?
