  1. Thanks for the numerous replies. As a follow-up question would there still be records as the what weapons agent David Chipman used while employed at the ATF? I do doubt he was issued an AR-15 after the FBI at Miami. Please feel free to kick this question around to people who could shed light on his claim to which service rifle he used and if there could be records of it. Thanks, NYX.
  2. Colion Noir has a Youtube video titled "ATF Director David Chipman Ripped Apart by Pro Second Amendment Senators". Does anybody know if the ATF issues AR-15s or do they issue M-16s or M-4s or some other fully automatic guns? At time stamp14:26 did David Chipman commit perjury? He says he was issued an AR-15 but was he really issued an M-16 or an M-4 or some other type of fully automatic rifle? Because if, after being an ATF agent and the head of multiple gun banning organizations and now applying as head of the ATF that he could make such a mistake is A) a bald-faced LIE or B) such a level of incompetence as to disqualify him from 'any' law enforcement position involving guns.
  3. Sad to say but my favorite gun shop closed due to change in the law.
  4. Just keep the horse from getting drunk and you are on your way. :-)
  5. What, like a Muzzle loader with a touch hole? LOL
  6. Welcome, from southern Illinois. Ask questions about your build I might learn something about my build.
  7. You beat me to it.
  8. Thanks for the correction, because I have always attributed that to Hu Flung Pu.
  9. How to calculate the torque with the extension is not difficult but determining the correct torque from the manual is at best obscure because it is not clear if the torque is 'indicated at the handle' or implied that accounting for the torque is needed when the armorers wrench is used in line. As 98z5v points out turning the tool 90 degrees from the torque wrench gives true torque at the threads. Thanks everybody for your thoughts.
  10. Yes - the free float hand guard barrel nut has a hexagonal profile. I agree it will be OK and am probably over doing it, but will say the manual is pretty crappy in its assumptions.
  11. I checked the manuals and nowhere does say the correct useage of the armorers wrench only a few pictures of its use. The only thing it says is " torque is measured when both wrench so are used together" but does not say anything on its correct usage or the standard for the offset.
  12. Exactly. But the question remains if the manuals are correct what is the spec for the stand off of the armorers wrench? Could the manuals be incorrect?
  13. I have always wondered about the correct way to use the armorers wrench to apply torque to the barrel nut. I know this sounds like a stupid newbie question but please hear me out. Most people align the wrench in line with the torque wrench - (adding to the moment arm and increasing the torque actually applied to the barrel nut) and according to the Army and Air Force manuals is the 'correct way'. So that begs the question what is the 'standard length' of the offset on an armors wrench where the torque wrench is attached. The other way is to set the torque wrench 90 degrees to the armorers wrench so the barrel nut gets a true 30 to 80 foot pounds. One of my builds I am going to have use a crows foot wrench to torque the barrel nut on a carbon fiber hand guard. The other builds hand guard uses a standard ar 15 pattern wrench. Thanks in advance for your answers. (I hope this does not get too lively)
  14. And according to them we will have the right to exercise our second admenment while doing so. Wearing a sleeveless dress. Isn't that what they mean by the right to bear arms?
