    458 SOCOM

    Looks good nice build
  2. Here's a pic of a Magpul K2 on my PA10 Gen 2. This is the rubberized version. I am not a big fan of that and will change it out to the Standard K2 grip. The gap is not that bad and it does not bother me.. just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

    458 SOCOM

A little more off hand time with the 458 at 25 yards, another 40 rounds, it's little tighter. I only have 260 rounds through it or $520.00 in ammo which ever way you want to look at it.

    458 SOCOM

less than a second between rounds I consider rapid fire on that beast. Mostly with LOP the recoil is substantial but not what I would call overly harsh

    458 SOCOM

A little update from the last outing. I added the 1" rubber butt pad for the ACE entry length stock. It added just enough length to eliminate any unwanted contact to the face. Still not where I want to be accuracy wise but shooting offhand rapid fire at 25 yards. I'm pretty happy with the results. I think that is a 4' diamond for reference. The hardest thing right now is keeping it fed at the cost of $2.00-$3.00 per round and there are some that run higher.
  6. The buffer stop pin is in a fixed location in the lower receiver and the length of the recoil spring will not extend the buffer past the buffer stop/pin. I would guess having an overly long recoil spring may cause binding or lack of full cycling of the BCG if it is matched to an incorrect (shorter ) buffer tube.
  7. Armalite (AR10) and DPMS (LR308) use different style bolt catches. I ran into a problem with the DPMS style bolt catch hitting the upper and making it inoperative on my PSA PA10 Gen 2 build. PSA uses a Armalite style bolt catch. you might want to check to see if the bolt catch is hitting the upper causing it to be "pinned down" and can't move up the lock the bolt back on an empty mag
  8. Good looking rifle.
  9. As well you to sir. I find myself using Ace stocks, Midwest Industries rails and MagPul K2 pistol grips it's all good stuff and I like the way the guns fit me. The SBR has been upgraded to a Midwest Industries SP series rail
  10. I like the ACE stock I have used it on three of my builds
  11. Still up in the AiR( sorry couldn't help myself) I am running the extractor spring that came with my 308 BCG and only one O-ring. It was running pretty good on slow and rapid fire, but I am not 100% confident at this time. I may be ordering the DPMS extractor spring kit an try that if my problem continues. If that doesn't cure my issues it may be above my paygrade and I will need to consult a professional. I just completed my .458 SOCOM build and it has tapped my ammo resources for the moment. I will be stocking up soon and will report my progress, or lack of it on my next range visit.

    458 SOCOM

I used some North Georgia Arms I picked up at a local gun show. the Big grains was on my short list of ammo to try. The price is right, I know this wont be a cheap gun to shoot , but if I can some money on ammo where I can I will. Thanks for the heads up

    458 SOCOM

I'm liking mine, some of the early ones, mostly Gen 1s has some feeding problems relating to the gas adjustment, It can be sensitive. Mine is a Gen II and has been real reliable . I was getting some over gassing as the rifle started to settle in. I waited for my muzzle brake to arrive and readjusted the gas setting and it has been trouble free ever since. It is a bit on the heavy side but the trigger is good and ergonomics are hard to beat. I also have their RDB. It's the only 2 Kel Tec products I own, I have no complaints and would buy another Kel Tec product

Not too bad...I still have my shoulder. seriously fairly comparable to my .308 AR and Kel Tec RFB also a .308

    458 SOCOM

Shot it last night. This is a pic of some quick fired ( less than a second between shots) shots offhand at 25 yards. It was the first time shooting it. I had to sight the optic and adjust the gas block on this visit. I went with the Vortex Sparc AR red dot. $208 shipped with ten30 rd gen 2 P mags from PSA. The optic seemed to hold up well and has kept zero so far. The Ace entry sized (7.5") stock is a little close on this caliber. If I'm not careful I will get a slight bump from the charging handle to my nose. I think they offer a thicker butt pad and that should solve that problem. It feels real light I haven't weighed it yet but I would guess the 7-8lb range empty with optic. The trigger on the lower I used is garbage even for Mil Spec. I have not decided what I am going to do about that yet. I have seen ammo run the gauntlet from $1.65 per rd to almost $3.00, needless to say I will search for best bang for the buck an hope to keep it under $2.00 a round. I don't reload either( too much ADD tendencies) to feel safe and confident in doing so. It will spend more time in the safe than at the range but as time and money allows I will take it out. It is just TOO much FUN to let is rot in the safe.

    458 SOCOM

Here's a pic on my .458 SOCOM build. I used the Wilson Combat .458 SOCOM build kit , upper. Midwest Industries SP series and Ace Skeletonized entry length stock. I am waiting on my optic and it will be range time.

    458 SOCOM

Anyone here build a 458 SOCOM or have experience with one?
  19. washguy it locks back on one round in the mag and every time I get to the end of a loaded mag. I may be wrong but I think the gas system is good. thanks for the help survivalshop thanks for the heads up I will check them out.
  20. Here's a little update on my PSA PA10 build. I ran into a little teething problems. I was getting "stovepipe" type jams with the spent brass hanging out of the ejection port still hooked into the extractor and bolt. So I went to a local gun shop in search of an AR15 extractor spring to replace the stock AR10 spring. He says he has one goes to replace it and comes back out with two small rubber O-rings, telling my I did not need this and will see how it runs with the AR10 spring only. next trip the range I am getting failure to extract/eject and double feed of a fresh round behind the spent brass still in the chamber. Round three I try just the AR15 extractor spring and I now have converted my PA10 into a single shot rifle with every round not extracting or ejecting. Once again with the failure to extract/eject. I go home an install one of the O-rings and carry the other O-ring with me back to the range. I still have a single shot PA10. I remove the bolt install the other O-ring keeping the AR15 extractor spring in place with no meaningful improvement in function. This has me thinking the only combination I haven't tried yet is the original AR10 extractor spring with only one O-ring installed. So tonight I go back to the range wit the original AR10 extractor spring an only one O-ring installed. I had 85 rounds of mixed ammo from some South African 7.62x51 NATO Ball military surplus and Sellior and Bellot .308 147 grain ball. I had four or five double feeds in the first 15 rounds the remaining 70 rounds ran flawlessly. I am thinking the rifle is starting bed in and function better. I will keep the current setup on one O-ring and the AR10 extractor spring until it starts to show a continue failure rate. Still happy with the gun and with anything you build from a random selection of parts, you are bound to have some issues to iron out.
  21. good shooting and nice looking rifle
  22. Looking at PSA's latest E-mail Ad they had a stripped Gen 1 PA 10 lower on sale. In the picture the Gen 1 caliber is stamped .308 on my Gen 2 it is stamped Multi
  23. Have you got your PA10 functioning now? My was built with Gen 2 upper, lower and a PSA (FN?) 14.7" barrel. I am hoping they have corrected their teething issues. It is too early to tell with mine but it is looking promising at this time.
