What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
CoalCracker replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Up until yesterday I had 2 540rnd cans of Mal M80 and half a dozen P-Mags en route. All are now resting peacefully. -
Thanks! I'll keep an eye out as I read more than I post.

Bigfoot--I can't give a definitive answer as to the Armalite spring cause I never tried the stock spring. 98 said that it would be a good thing to install along with an H3 buffer so I went with experienced advice. bfoosh--I hear ya. Already picked up 8 lbs of BLC-2, 2000 once fired cases and 1200 Hornady 150gr fmj's. Scopes next. And thanks again for getting me in here ? mley--Thanks for the heads up on the Malay ammo. Was unsure if I should try it or go with maybe Privi. Will give SGAmmo an order.

One thing I took notice in this rifle was the extractor. I've read and seen on youtube about the double spring and rubber doughnut. Mine came with only one spring and doughnut. Never failed to extract.
-
Yeah gonna give it a shot lol. Was just looking at Bigfoots post again and his looks very similar but he used what the factory supplied as for spring and buffer.
-
98 if I hadn't listened to you and just shot it with the lighter buff and PSA spring me thinks it might have been worse. Thanks man ?
-
Lol like I said I hunt n peck to slow. Yeah I stuck one in ?
-
Ok, I type ( hunt n peck to slow. Anyway top pic at 8 is my mark. Spot at 4 is just oil sheen. Second pic shows how much extension is in lower. Bottom is how much difference-.058" I stuck a quarter in extension then.
-
One thing I have learned rather quickly is that a 308 AR is NOT a nose to charging handle weapons platform? Only took one round ?
-
Yes. Very light nick but it's there. Will get a pic tomorrow. <whispers> I'm at work right now ?. Didn't get any worse and not nearly as bad as the Bigfoot thread.

100 rounds of reloads and 40 factory Federals. That's only 50 yards but sure looks farther. Impromptu shooting bench lol

After over a month and a half I was finally able to pull the trigger on my PA10 Gen II rifle. Overtime out the wazoo, a funeral, wedding and just life in general all got in the way. So, during that time I read, a lot, on this Forum. I buffed the internals as per bfoosh, and added an H3 buffer and Armalite recoil spring as per 98. Today I deflowered her. Going by an article on barrel break-in, I fired 1, cleaned and did that 9 more times. Then it was 5 sets of 3, clean between sets. Then 3 sets of 5-same thing. What chore but I did notice groups tightening up as I went. I have a very slight BCG mark at 8 o'clock otherwise no other issues. I used a 10rd P-Mag for break-in and had no issues-every round fed and ejected. Break-in ammo was Fed 180gr softpoints-only 308 my funshop had. Sights, for now, were Factory FSB and a Magpul MBUS rear. Scope coming as funds allow. Blasting ammo was reloads. Only Issues I encountered were mag related. I picked up a few cheap C-Products which needed major filing just to fit in the mag well but the SOB's all functioned great.Next up were ASC's I picked up from Primary Arms. 1 out of 5 worked ok. The other 4 had feed lips so close together it wouldn't allow the bolt to travel freely-they will be worked on. My 2 20 round P-mags worked just fine. Rifle is a PSA Enhanced lower, upper is an 18" SS barrel with FSB. Ran it soaking wet with Mobile 1. Other then mag issues she ran great with recoil not being as bad, TO ME, as anticipated. BIG SMILES today ? ? ?

Believe it or not this upper was well oiled from the factory. PSA musta read bfoosh's posts about their lack of oil. I've cleaned it thoroughly anyway then slathered Mobile 1 on it. Now all I need is time. ? -

I picked up my PSA complete lower last week and after reading this thread I know my parts are identical to the set on the left of bfoosh's picture. The upper is a midlength 18" ss barrel with the Military style sight/gas block. SO after saying that, should I order an H3 buffer and orange Sprinco recoil spring before firing round 1 in this rifle, or just say "Hold my beer and watch this" ? -
I picked up my completed PSA lower this afternoon. Love the grip and stock. Was foolin' around with some mags I got. ASC drop free-no problems. My funstore had some C-products for cheap so i picked up 5. These will be strictly range mags for the time being. Out of the five only 1 would seat without a problem! I was able to see where the wear marks were with 2 others and filed/sanded them to slip in. 2 others I'll have to massage with the belt sander. Stay away! if they feed ok they'll just be for the range. Upper supposed to be here Monday evening. Hope to get out Tuesday.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
CoalCracker replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I was looking into an M14/M1A style rifle at first. Then I harbored thoughts of converting my Garand to a mag fed shorty. Lots of reading later I decided a 308 AR style rifle was my way to go. Now if only my upper from PSA would get here.......... -
I almost gave up on joining. I was having problems registering so I scraped the idea for the night till I saw bfoosh was a member on another site I belong to. Asked him for a hand and he got the ball rolling. SO here I r :) My reason for joining is the progression from 5.56 to 7.62 in a semi + Lots of troubleshooting tips and people with a sense of humor.

Thanks :) Schuylkill Co would remind you of WV. Nearly all mining done here is surface--which us Skooks call strippins. Some underground stuff--Mike Rowe filmed a segment of Dirty Jobs at a local deep mine.

Took 133 308 cases outa my Lemi Shine solution. Spread them on a cookie sheet then on the oil burner to dry.

Hello all. I hail from Pa's hard coal region of Schuylkill Co. Born and raised here and don't plan on moving. My hobbies are shooting and anything Sane as pertaining to the outdoors-hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, that sort of stuff. I've been lurking and learning about a week now so I decided to join up. Just my luck software problems prevented me from registering. Seems I didn't know what caliber an AR10 was. Got some help from bfoosh and Matt and here I are :). Anyway I've ordered and am waiting on an upper from PSA and my complete lower is at my favorite funshop waiting till Friday so I can pick it up. Hope to be here awhile. CoalCracker
