Great stuff thanks for the link. I'll try to compile it all in a spread sheet along with my 3 sources added (KAK, ADK, AP with natural bolts and Davidson Defense). Think I have to take picture of spreadsheet when done in order to display it here, is that correct? Plus the picture of the gas tube position in the thread clip, is exactly where mine was before the smash jam. John at WOA reminded me that the AR-15 gas tubes are not the same as an some LR-308 or AR-10. The tube I installed was their off the shelf AR-15 R+2. Since my mutant barrel needed the extra 3/8" he said was common for an AR-10 spec.

PS your tinfoil hat will be ineffective. It needs to be conically corrugated to accommodate wider frequency spectrum.

This might be a form of social media but it is for technical information IMHO. It is not facebook, twitter, etc., Also the questions I used as an example are like those you have for account security with banks, credit cards, as civilian examples OPM is Office of Personnel Management. Snowden: so what, Its progressives that bother me more, like to give them an all-expense paid Caribbean vacation. (progressives are not Flow from the insurance company they are Communists with patience) Progressivism has had three definitions over time, Teddy Roosevelt, Bob Lafollette, and now Saul Alinsky types. This later group is the one I am referring to. Hope I answered all your questions Now can we get back to gun technical stuff. I am still trying to understand the variations of BCGs with respect to the various LR308 receivers. Of course there is no standard for LR308 stuff, right?. It appears from my collection of BCGs that there is issues with BCG carrier length, gas key tube length and placement and the stroke of the extended bolt. No two are a like. So I bought an AP BCG to go with my AP receivers in hopes that they are compatible within the company's designs.

OK simply put PLA-MI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Liberation_Army#Military_intelligence GRU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Intelligence_Directorate And their hacking of the OPM files is public record. I'd look it up for you but this should sufice

Chinese and Russian military intelligence agencies. GRU is like our DIA, KGB like CIA etc. Well I haven't responded because I was in process of moving to my alternated location and didn't want to start a custom order with WOA until I sure I was going to be able to receive it. So last Tuesday I got with Jim WOA and made the order. He called back that afternoon to confirm a measurement and I received the new gas tube Friday morning. That is really fast for custom order and I now appreciate why Jim wants to keep it simple and quick. At $40 delivered you can't waste time and make any money well very good for them. The attachment shows the new location perfectly centered on the cam nut cutout in the upper receiver. Beautiful. Only my crapola BCGs don't work so smoothly. The ADK version shown in my other extractor thread would not close receivers so it is out. The KAK-DD BCG did close but fits really tight and you almost have to hammer the charging handle to get it to release. I fire tested this one, first one round smoke test follow by five round high speed. Once you get then thing in hold back it works fine. Question how much gap should be visible between the BCG front edge and the ejector opening in the receiver if any? Why is the bolt release so hard, the bolt was fit to the barrel and extension during barrel assemble?

Did somebody see a slack convoy go by, NOT a chance on this site. This is almost fun.

Here is a clue, I only do e -mail no social media. If you want to know more ask the FLA or the GRU they stole all out security records and background investigations. They know my first dog's name, my 1st grade teacher's name, and the address where my mother met my father and anything else in there. That's my combine 50 year pin for service in DoD.

Thanks. Yes it is hard, tried and old. When I talked to WOA they didn't seem to volunteer to make a truly custom tube so when you all pulled out the band wagon I was slow to recognize my close mindedness as to what WOA would do. I'll try again in the morning, thanks.

Very correct I have been e-mailing them and conversing with a John Holliger. so I need to call and ask about a truly custom, one of kind gas tube. Not necessarily the ones they call custom.

This is what it looks like installed, Had one heck of a jam when bolt dropped casing inside receiver and didn't eject.

A DPMS rifle length gas tube is 15.125", an Armalite Rifle length gas tube is 15.5" so when you go R+2 you get 17.5" tube requirement. Been have conversations with WOA and they say go find and AR-10 R+2 source theirs are LR-308.
-
All my LR-308s already have white oak arms gas tubes and match grade gas blocks. However it appears that the 6mm barrel gas port was cut using AR-10 Specifications not LR-308 which adds another which means I need another 3/8" over what WOA provides as an R+2 gas tube.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
Phantom30 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Ability to have a battle rifle class rifle with near mile long range capability, Creedmoor calibers, that outperforms SASS types. -
I have a custom 6mm Creedmoor Barrel in R+2 LR-308 format only It needs a 17.5" gas tube, the standard R+2 is 17.125 and comes up short. AR-10 Rifle Gas tube is 15.5" so does any one know where I can get and AR-10 R+2 gas tube?

Extractor scaring under side of casing rims
Phantom30 replied to Phantom30's topic in General Discussion
Jtallen83 - I like Tubbs' 115gr RBT Closed tip (CT) for the 6mm, if I can get the rifle to work reliably. CT format has nearly same toughness needed in a semi-auto bullet to reduce chambering effects, hopefully as well as S&B FMJ does in 6.5. Plus it has great ballistics with potential to take battle rifle class hardware and give it accurate long range capability. -
Extractor scaring under side of casing rims

Well on range Thursday was snap shooting a string of 200 yard plates, miss matched bolt dropped a casing in receiver instead of ejecting it. Next feed action drove casing neck up into the gas tube pushing it forward an inch as it hard jammed. So new R+2 gas tube on order. These non-standard suckers are tough to get right. Every time you try to save a buck it costs more in the end. -

Extractor scaring under side of casing rims
Phantom30 replied to Phantom30's topic in General Discussion
I have a stiff 458 SOCOM buffer spring but if I slow down recoil I speed up recharge. I have proven that semi-auto chambering will cause an asymmetry in bullet tips of SP, BTHP, OTM and ELDs which will reduce accuracy. More energy will exacerbate this effect. S&B FMJ is least effected in this way. I bought ADK BCG from Delta Tactical for $99 a real deal but it didn't help or add any weight. -
Extractor scaring under side of casing rims
Phantom30 replied to Phantom30's topic in General Discussion
OK after a couple hundred rounds my KAK-Davidson BCG is still standing on its face extended. So that is normal. which means that the extractor imprint is due to an overpressure some where else in the system. 6mm has an R+2 gas system and has the strongest but as you say very minor imprint. So my solution is just keep blasting away and be careful to inspect them for rim cracks before each reload and have a nice day. I can live with that, so thanks for the support and good answers. PS SOCOM rejected the 260 REM for the 6.5 Creedmoor, so I have a better chance of seeing fresh lake city MILSPEC production in the future. I have also fired hundreds of thousand 7.62x51s and left all that brass on the ground for you to pick up and reform. Enjoy. -

Extractor scaring under side of casing rims
Phantom30 replied to Phantom30's topic in General Discussion
OK minor, but Creedmoor ammo is not cheap so I was planning to reload these casings. Accumulated damage could result in ripping a rim after a couple of these imprints. Just being cautious, probably over cautious Nice video. Good stuff. Still why are the rings so tight, normal or not? -
Extractor scaring under side of casing rims

Here is pic requested. Hope you can make them large enough to see what I talking about. As for JP stuff I just ordered from them so it will be awhile until my account settles there. I use their recoil eliminators not so much for recoil but to keep the scope on target and it works really well, especially with 6mm Creedmoors. These builds are basic battle rifles with a 1,000 to 1,300 yard long range capability. Any way to smooth out the rings I have? or just buy the good ones and get on with it. Why are these things so tight? is that typical of 308 or is it a problem? -
Hi have built 3 aero precision LR308 uppers 2 6.5 Creedmoor and one 6mm. I have two bolt carriers and four bolts I share among them. All leave extractor scars on the underside of the casing rim. May be this is normal, but haven't noticed it before. What I have noticed is that LR308 BCGs have tight bolts. You can flick an AR BCG to put the bolt forward when installing in receiver. You can't do that with these 308s. I suspect pressure build up in BCG is causing scaring of cases, because of tight gas ring fit. Theory, anybody know facts?
