  1. That's very interesting I measured the ports on a couple of barrels that aren't assembled and they are a couple 1/1000" over .080" I ought to enlarge them then. But that may be the reason why I'm getting dents in brass on ejection. Because the KAK bolts feature double ejectors, which could possibly compensate for being undergassed ? I handload, so little details like consistent patterns of dented brass catch my attention. Next question : Can a guy with a regular drill press open up the ports or does it take an EDM machine or some other expensive equipment ?
  2. Great ! Thanks for your help ! I'll check out that spring As long as we're on the topic of gas ports : I also have a 20" long .308 barrel thats from Bear Creek, and that barrel has a rifle length gas tube. Should the gas port be .090" on that barrel as well? Have a Great Holiday
  3. Thanks for offering - I have a few uppers I'll focus on my Aero Upper that has a 16" barrel made by KAK and a KAK BCG and a heavy buffer and Adjustable Gas Block. The gas system is mid length (about 13.5"-14" from the back of the barrel extension to the gas port) I just followed the instructions that came in the package and I don't really have any issues with the way it runs . But it seems like the spring is heavy. Recently I got an Aero Ambi Charging Handle, with hopes that operating the charge handle with my right hand would simplify the ergonomics, but it's impossible to charge it with the butt of the stock shouldered. I need to lower the rifle and hold it away from myself to pull it. So that's the only issue. Maybe that's normal ? The ambi charging handle didn't really solve any problems, because the forward assist hits my fingers and prevents me from getting a really positive grip. I have a .358 Winchester upper also and that runs okay too and with the AGB and Heavy Buffer recoil is not at all harsh. I could give some numbers for the gas port, but I'd have to disassemble it... Possibly I could find the size in the specs from the company if that's important. I appreciate your help - Sorry it took a while to reply, I'm disorganized because I have to move this month.
  4. Thanks - I was hoping that AR 10s would be like 1911s with a wide variety of recoil springs, but apparently not.
  5. Poor quality pic enclosed - for legitimacy
  6. I first started shooting my AR 10 build a few yrs ago and I haven't met any guys locally whose weapons I've handled. I started thinking that I may have an issue when I watched some videos and it looks like some other .308 AR guys have buffer springs that are lighter than the one I have, just judging by how they're able to cycle the charging handle... or else they've been doing charging handle specific weight training. I can't remember for certain where I got my buffer tube / stock system, but I think it may have been PSA. It's a full size fixed stock like the Vietnam era M-16s. But if I can get by with a lighter buffer spring, it would make the ergonomics of this a lot better. Any ideas ? Thank You In Advance
  7. There's a place in the world for BCA stuff - Especially considering the AR 10s for under $1000. Sort of reminds me of entry level RIA 1911s
  8. Nice !
  9. I tried searching ASA, with no results other than Arizona State Armory - but didn't see a web site
  10. I'll check out ASA - Thanks
  11. What are the options for getting a decent quality Bolt Carrier for use with a side charging mechanism ? I bought a couple of side charging uppers from BCA and I like the design of the side charging handle, but the finish quality of the Bolt Carrier is mediocre and I'm not sure about the metallurgy. They are functioning well, and finish quality is superficial, but if it reflects anything about metallurgy then wear may be an issue.. So what are guys doing ? Can a good quality BCG be drilled and tapped ? It seems like the angles aren't correct for the same geometry of BCA (Bear Creek Arsenal) style handle. Thanks for any suggestions
  12. OK - Easier to find an A2
  13. I'm trying to find an adjustable gas block that has a pic rail that matches the height of the Aero top rail system. I've got an Aero upper including handguard and my barrel is rifle length and that places the gas block out ahead of the handguard, slightly. I'm not completely committed - But I do have a BUIS set for the top rail that accompanies my glass scope, so I'll go in that direction - and if I could find a gas block that matches the rail height, then that would be ideal. I'm not opposed to using an A2 front sight/block either. But I'd like to see what's out there and, so far, I haven't found any Adjustable Pic Rail Gas Blocks that match the Aero rail height. So - As Always - Assistance Appreciated.
  14. OK, order placed. This search drove me nuts. I might have internet issues or something like that, causing sluggish data processing. But whenever I went to search something on Amazon, it always led me to Monstrum, as if there's no other product line... It's obviously a conspiracy.... lol Thanks for helping get things moving in the right direction.
  15. Something where the rear ring is flush with the back of the rail clamp is a huge improvement over what I have been trying to use. At least that leaves room for the BUIS. Warne, ADM is good with the QD, Aero looks like it could work too
  16. Thanks - ADM looks good - The QD is cool too I'm getting more good results on my searches now . But it took a while to reach this point
  17. That's a lot of the point behind getting a 1 piece - Minimal flex
  18. It seems to be one of those things that makes too much sense so there's no demand for it. But somehow the thing that is impractical becomes popular, like 22" wheels with super low profile tires on a pickup truck
  19. Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. Pretty much an example of why searching for an upright 1 pc scope mount can be frustrating. You have the one for $11.99 - Which I'd buy... Except it's 11 mm Then there's DNZ who offer some for hunting rifles in the $40 - $60 range, but for pic rail, they're $139 And apparently nothing in between. It seems like there'd be demand for upright mounts, considering that everyone with glass optics uses a BUIS and offset mounts eat up space on the rail where that could be mounted... I also have a brass catcher that mounts on the rail.
  20. Hi Guys I've spent a good several hours trying to search out a simple 1 piece mount that is not offset, but for some reason the search engine on all the sites I've looked, like Optics planet, Midway, Brownells etc freezes up as I narrow down the filter ... I don't get it. But I've been dealing with this frustration since this morning and it's 8:30 pm now. So I just thought I'd ask here Looking for a 1 pc, No offset - just straight up, 1" tube dia, 1.125" height approx, about $60 price range Any ideas ? I thought it would take about a half hour to find something but I've been at it way too long - No Results Thanks for any assistance

  22. The Murphy's Law of Tacti-Coolness If someone has one accessory that's lacking Tacti-Coolness, it's possible to compensate for it by adding another accessory that is Overly Tacti-Cool
  23. P Perfect answer !
  24. Thanks The Bigger Question : Is it socially acceptable ? ( LOL ) Or will the guys at the range shun anyone who has an A1 sight ahead of a scope ?
  25. Does anyone run a regular glasss optic scope behind an A1 style front sight ? I tried a flip up front sight in front of my 9X scope and I couldn't see it. I'm not sure if it would have an effect at the range as I haven't tried it. My reason for asking is because I bought a rifle length barrel for my upper, and I have a 15" handguard - So the options are : Have the gas block hanging out in front of the handguard Get a longer handguard, and use a flip up front sight Mount an A1 front sight/gas block Thanks - As Always
