  1. Thank you and all the rest on the board for the fine greeting. I'll pull my own weight and help with a smile when able. I'm no slacker! Merry Christmas, Digger D.
  2. Western Kentucky, were all my Grand Daddy's kin are from! Thank you and all the rest on the board for the fine greeting. I'll pull my own weight and help with a smile when able. I'm no slacker! In memory of my distant relation David Crockett who died at The Alamo. He dared to speak the truth to politicians of his day, it is our duty today! Merry Christmas, Digger D.

  9. Magwa, greetings from the high desert country of the Four Corners. By the way I noticed we have something else in common . Close by Native lands here. Take care and Merry Christmas, Digger D
  10. This is the setup I ended up using to measure my firing pin protrusion. I tried the depth mic but a couple of mag bases made it easier and faster.
  11. Just completed reassembly after checking the gas port. Decided to subdue the bright SS finish on this 20" Bbl. while the hand guard was off. I think it came out looking sweet. Merry Christmas to me! DD
  12. Roger that. Much obliged.
  13. 42 shank would pass 41 is a no go so it is between 0.093 and0.096. I'm guessing by how it felt that it's close to 0.094.
  14. OK thanks, yes rifle length gas system on a 20" bbl. So they got it right on the 20" bbls.? Yes I know the recoil system is a BIG compromise and will replace it with an Armalite extension and proper weight buffer.
  15. Don't know what you mean by the other thread. I was just assuming mine was too small, too, and had not gotten around to verifying it until today. Well, I'm sober, and just pulled it down to check it. It is 0.093. It came from the factory that size. What ever, just the facts man.
  16. At least they got the gas port right. 20" rifle bbl. now shipping with .093 gas port (at least this one). Keep beating them on the recoil system. Maybe it's starting to sink in.
  17. OK, I'll chime in on this subject. Has PSA listened to their customer base and incorporated design changes in their new Gen 3? I purchased a complete lower and a separate 20" SS upper in late 2020. It has run well as configured even with a 7" receiver extension and light buffer they ship with The common issue of too small a gas port size had me curious so I just pulled it down and checked it. Expecting to have to drill it I started sizing and it ate the #44 bit and the #43 with #42 pretty close and a 41 would not go so it looks like they did open up the port but now too big! Guess since they now include an adjustable gas block more must be better.
  18. Thanks, here's how it looks today. Scope's a Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP HUD DMR reading Mils. Love this reticle. Ranges out to 1K Yds. then I have plenty travel with the 20 MOA Midwest mount.
  19. Looks good Steve. Glad you have had good CS from PSA too. Greetings from your neighbor in NW NM. We have similar views. I also picked up a PSA G3 lower and then the 20" rifle length upper. It had everything I wanted and it runs flawlessly. Might want to get some Sprinco double extractor springs for when the OEM single spring gets soft. https://www.primaryarms.com/sprinco-ar-10-ar-308-dual-extractor-spring-upgrade-kit https://www.sprinco.com/ar-extractor.html Enjoy! 20. I was searching around for firing pin protrusion issues and came across the group here. Signed up and posted a reply to the thread only to find it was six years old. Worked fine for a test so hello to the group. Home is in NW NM and I started in working with the AR platform for the first time ever just before the China flu hit in Jan 2020 Having experience with the M14 and a Mini14 in .223 I wanted to build an AR platform rifle. Ended up building five during the pandemic including an 11.5" carbine pistol, a 10.3" adjustable gas pistol, a mid length gas 16" rifle and a rifle length gas 18" CHF FN barreled rifle and with that done then my .308. Having tried PSA and wanting to support them, I opted to try out their PA-10 platform knowing from research what I would be getting. So far zero issues running a 20" stainless bbl. Great accuracy from the Gen 3 lower and upper topped with a Primary Arms 4-14 FFP ACSS HUD DMR .308 in a Midwest Ind. 30mm-20MOA mount. Having worked in welding, machining and fabrication in the past fortunately I had most of the basic tools, calipers, mics. but I'm still adding more tooling, inch pound torque wrench, chamber gauges and recently a MI URR upper receiver rod to my tool arsenal. Availability challenges amid shipping nightmares have honed my skills at digging for parts and deals and showed me who I want to deal with and who ships fast. I prefer all my parts Made in USA! and my bulk ammo from Oklahoma. Glad to be aboard. Semper Fi. DiggerDave DD 😄
  21. Guess that makes me another FNG and an old one at that, a FNOG ! Thanks for the welcomes. DD
