Something similar. I have access to a 1200 yd range when I get the urge but the range, in my yard, is only 300 yd and I seldom shoot past 200. I use MR-34C targets often at 100 and enjoy the halibut. Makes retrieving target a whole lot more fun. Whatta Hobby!

The Night Force Competition 15-55 x 52 might be worth looking at and the Leupold MK-5 can get the job done, both nice clear optics and have been holding up well in the 6.5 Creedmoor on my rifles. Been trying out some of the Sightron offerings lately with good service. Whatta Hobby@

Doing a little inventory in the powder department this morning. When loading for .223, 6.5 or .308, with 20 plus varieties it is really difficult to choose the " best" powder for a particular application, but it is sure a hoot trying. Whatta Hobby!

Loading up a couple of 50 cnt range boxes of 175 smk bullets in Starline palma brass over 41.9 gn of IMR-8208 set of with 205M primers. Last batch ran just over 2500 fps with an SD of 9. This is for my M14 with an 18.5 inch barrel in 1/10. Loves this load. Whatta Hobby!

Couple of notes on additional steps that I take during priming of brass. I weigh cases and sort into 1 gn groups. If a case " feels " like the primer is going in too easy I mark the cases with a Sharpie for removal after this firing. Any case that falls into outlier category while weighing are set aside and primers colored with sealing compound and used for foulers. This is a test group of Berdan .308 NATO cases that have been re-loaded in excess of 10 times for an auto-loading rifle and most are still going strong with no separations or neck cracks thanks to annealing prior to each loading. Have had this rifle for well over 50 years and many changes. Currently in an ArchAngel chassis with 10 rnd dbm. Whatta Hobby!

Part of making an M14 rifle shoot better is to unitize the gas systems. I TIG weld the front band to the cylinder for my purposes. Others screw and glue to accomplish this. Photos show part of the preparation. Whatta Hobby!

Not the bags fault that I was having a problem with it. With a little more practice I think this might just be an asset. Shot this 10 dot 1/4" dot challenge target at 100 yds yesterday using the bag. Note: shot 10 was a miss because the shooter got anxious and hit the trigger before being ready. Can't cure stupid. Whatta Hobby!

This thing is going to take some getting used to. Way wider than anything else I have use so my chubby arms have to make a stretch to get around it. Whatta Hobby!

Funny, I never used to like suppressors or scopes, now I have them on almost all my fun toys. Whatta Hobby!

Finishing up a build using one the of the new James River Armory receivers from a group buy on the M14BR forum. NMBR02 ready for the range. Winchester bolt, Bula .308 16.5" suppressor ready barrel assembly and Bula trigger group. Popped her into a version 1 USGI fiberglass stock and mounted a Leupold 6.5-20 scope on an IDF mount. Iron sights can be used with the scope mounted. OSS HXQD ,338 magnum TI suppressor attached. Having way too much fun. Whatta Hobby!

I love you too. We all have opinions and none are worth any more than another. Life would be boring without them. Whatta Hobby!

I see we are making great progress on this subject. I have seen students with this type of attitude over the years. Usually they need help across the finish line. Whatta Hobby!

UPS dropped of a new bolt and op rod for an M14 build. Putting the bolt together makes if feel so real theses days. Bolts come stripped and need to have the roller and clip installed along with the firing pin, extractor, extractor spring, extractor plunger, ejector spring and ejector plunger. Used to use the conventional clip compressor pliers until I made up my own as in photos. My preference is the one made up from a locking hemostat. Nice thing about this creation is that you can lock the clip in place and have a free hand to use a hammer to put the roller in place. There we are, assembled and greased in a few minutes, ready to go. Whatta Hobby!

Question for the antagonist. How do you use pocket go/no go gauges , if not by feel? Think about it, all is relative. Same with chamber go/no go, it's is done by feel. Whatta Hobby!

Simple, while hand de-priming, if you " feel " a primer that comes out substantially easier than others, it is starting to get loose. May pass your go/no go, but if it's starting to loosen up, it might be time to survey the brass. All the tools in the world may not be any better than an experienced hand at the bench. Then again, all the fancy tools in one's possession may not make a good shooter or loader, but experience "TRUMPS" the tools along with practice practice practice. Whatta Hobby!

Well, don't that beat all. A guy is simply sharing a knowledgeable opinion of what works for him and another calls it BS. Whatta Hobby!

I picked up a few of these timers some years ago on Amazon for under $10. each. I have one on my tumbler and I use 1 hr and one on my brass dryer and use 2 hrs. They each run multiple times per week and have never given a problem. Whatta Hobby!

Really happy with Protector bags, but thanks for the information.

I have a timer on my Thumler set for 1 hr. Nope, I removed the de-capping pin and expander ball from my dies long ago. I hand de-prime. Let's me know when a pocket is getting loose and the brass needs to go to the bin.
