  1. I am a little late to the game on this one but I just read this article not long ago. https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/firearm-hunting/rugers-sfar-is-built-for-hunters-should-you-get-one-before-its-too-late There are some other forums and videos reporting that the SFAR and some other items are no longer listed on Ruger's website.
  2. Thank you for the info everyone, it is most helpful!
  3. I have been reading through threads on this site to get an education on 308 ARs. Some of the cautionary tales and problem solving journeys have really gotten my attention. Some threads are from a few years ago or more and I was curious if anyone knows if any manufacturers have seen any of the problem identification and resolution threads and taken the lessons learned to heart? I was going to ask about Palmetto State Armory but a relatively recent thread seems to have answered that question: https://forum.308ar.com/topic/36579-psa-swings-misses-again/#comment-399420 I read a thread from a few years ago about an Aero Precision build where the gas port diameter was the main problem: https://forum.308ar.com/topic/23066-new-aero-precision-m5-build-is-jamming/ Does anyone know if this is still an issue with Aero Precision barrels?
  4. Thanks for the help and advice! I did ask about recoil spring and buffer length but that was all the info that was provided. If 98Z5V says LFA is good to go, that is good enough for me!
  5. I asked Live Free Armory some questions regarding some specifications of their LF308 Battle Rifle. This is the information they sent me: Patterned after DPMS High profile Gen 1 The buffer is 4.3 oz The buffer spring is 308 carbine length Buffer tube depth is 7 inch Gas tube is midlength Gas block area is .750 Gas port diameter on the barrels we are currently using are .076 I read over the thread on Barrel Gas Port Size and Gas tubes, barrel gas ports, and buffer weight. It seems like the buffer is on the lighter side and the gas port is kind of small. Does that sound right?
  6. That is some great shooting! Glad to hear your SFAR is running just fine. I have a few questions if you don't mind: Is that a 20 inch barrel? What ammo were you shooting? How is the adjustable gas block working out? Did you change out any parts?
  7. Found this video review of a POF Rogue, looks like a 16.5 inch barrel. He bought it used and had to change out the spring and buffer to get it working right. He also added an adjustable gas block.
  8. I noticed this rifle in a post on another AR forum. The poster there bought one and gives his initial impression and a brief review. https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/New-POF-Rogue-18-5-inch-308-SFAR-competition-/121-788491/?r=-1&page=1&anc=bottom#bottom I cannot find the rifle on POF's website but it does show up on other retailer's websites. https://www.guns.com/firearms/p/patriot-ordnance-factory-pof-rogue?i=404842 Looks promising, I have heard good things about POF.
  9. We have a warm spell the past two days with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 40s. We took the opportunity to put up Christmas decorations and test everything out.
  10. I saw an earlier thread talking about adding Live Free Armory to the list of manufacturers. There was also discussion about merging the Matrix Aerospace section as that was their former name. Did LFA ever get added? The last mention I saw of them in this forum was some years ago.
  11. And Armed Eye Doc with the save! Really though, thank you to everyone who replied. That is a lot of useful info for which I am grateful! A big question is whether or not Armalite still uses these parts in the rifles they currently produce. You would think they would but when one assumes...
  12. Yep. After I read some threads on buffers and springs, I looked for the AR10rekit01 6-position receiver extension kit online. It's a little difficult to find, particularly because items with similar names show up on different sites and it is difficult to tell if that is the actual kit. For example, is this kit the real thing? https://ar15parts.com/products/ar-10-buffer-tube-kit-6-position-assembly/
  13. Thanks for the info! Kind of a bummer that even a complete lower built for .308 chambering can have buffers that not the correct weight. You would think that whatever costs they are trying to save is not worth the angry customers.
  14. I know this is a year later but I am new to the forum, bear with me. I am baffled how he got his SFAR to work and perform well after all the videos and reviews I have read of people having issues with their SFAR. Did he just get lucky or something?
  15. Might take a little time to make that happen
