6132expert Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 http://www.ar-10-rifles.com/index.phpI don't think I am fully understanding barrels. So let me ask 1-10 is 1 rifle groove every 10 inchs? So would the barrels fron Lilja (which what I looked at was 3 grooves every 11 inchs) be better?Any info would be great. Thanks
imschur Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I do not know anyone who has used them. Where do you see that twist rate on the site? I cant seem to locate it and you have piqued my curiousity.
6132expert Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 My bad I did an edit.I didn't see that twist on the site. Wat I did see is "Ultra-Match Stainless premium Air gauged – which includes barrel diameter and length of your choice up to 26” in length, barrel extension and target crown. Most twists available"
imschur Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I did see that. I have also seen I think a Savage BR, and A Remington 700 with 1:8 in 308 since you mentioned this the other day...
6132expert Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 So back to the edited post can you explain the barrels to me a little?
imschur Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 heres a few good links that explain it all very well and better than I canChuck HawkswikipediaLoadammo.com
308reloaded Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 1-10 means bullet turns 1 full turn in 10 inches.. maybe with a barrel that has 6 groves, at least that is how I learned it
6132expert Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 Yeah thanks for that!! After reading the provided info, I have made my mind up on the Barrel. I will be going with the JP Mid-lenght Barrel. I have come across a couple others I am willing to concider one being Ballistics Advantage, but I would have to call them to get more info.
survivalshop Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Kreiger Criterion by Fulton Armory , not sure there 18" is the twist rate ya want , but you get them on one of there sales & its a very good deal. There barrels I have shoot better than I ever will.Just another one to concider.
