Hi guys, I want to add a fore grip to my dpms LR308, the hand guard only has one hole for a sling swivel , is there a way to put a picattiny rail on the bottom?

and I think I know the answer to this question, but I need clarification, my LR308 is stamped 308 on the receiver, does this mean I cannot shoot 7.62x51ammo through this rifle? just shot it for the first time last week, everything worked perfectly, no problems at all :) very low recoil, I have been told this has to do with the 24 inch bull barrel, its heavy but a very manegable recoil, so Ill keep that barrel, Im considering changing the hand guard, if I was to do this what specifics should I look for when shopping? it measures 12 inches and the gas block sits high. thanks in advance.

Welcome from Louisiana.

Yes you can shoot 7.62 x 51 ammo <thumbsup>

Yes you could add a rail section on the bottom> http://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186732&TERM=rail section

If you want to replace your handguard just make sure that you purchase one with the correct rail height to match your receiver & if you want your handguard to cover the gas block you'll need to get a new low profile gas block.

thanks for the welcomes, & the info, so I don't have to worry about different pressure or size on the 7.62x51? I thought the answer was going to be a no go, I know the AR-15 if it says 5.56,  can shoot both 5.56 & 223 but not the other way around wasn't sure if the LR308 was the same way.

The .308 has higher pressure than the 7.62x51 , but with these newer weapons you can shoot either from a 7.62 or .308 stamped barrel. You can hit the search feature & there should be several threads on the subject
