DPMS G2 AP4

Recommended Posts

Okay, so i just got in my AP4, and want to get a drop-in carbine length quad rail for her. Don't need one that's super expensive, just something for the time being until i sell off some junk and can replace the gas block and get a longer rail. I tried one from Double Star and the outside diameter was too big and wouldn't fit (it was for an ar15 so i figured it would have dropped right in). Anyone know what carbine length rail will fit this beast?

Midwest Industries makes drop in HG's specifically for DPMS LR .308 line, if you don't mind paying $140. They make 2 models, one for the oracle and one for the sportical. One or both of which I assume will work with the ap4. Make sure you get the right length i.e. carbine, midlength, rifle.

The G2 actually doesn't accept all Ar15 hand guards. That was a bit of mistaken marketing by DPMS.

Which was kind-of a bummer.

Well, that might be true for the AP4, but any AR-15 free float rail designed to fit over a low profile gas block will fit over DPMS Gen2's with free float barrel nuts and low profile gas blocks.  I installed a very slim Nordic Components AR-15 free float tube in place of the OEM quad rail.  You might consider cutting off your front sight posts, ordering a Gen2 FF barrel nut off the DPMS website, and then buying any AR15 rail you desire.
