AR .308 Stock question can anyone answer

Ok this is who I hate posting, everyone finds out how much I don't really know, lol.

My question is:

I am building a AR10 DPMS style gun, First of all,  I am using already bought and have in hand, which I use in all my guns, the JP Enterprise Silent Capture No-Kick Buffer for .308. I have a standard sized Mil-Spec 6-hole adjustable Buffer Tube bought fromMidway U.S.A.. I also have a BufferTube that is straight and has a little end cap type sticking out built into the end with a little hole in it. I bought it a long time ago do just never sent it back. I found a Magpul Adjustable Snipers Stock for a great price and was going to order it. The selker said it was for a A2 set up. I researched A2 and only came up with something about removable handle. I don't have a handke so figured if I am using a normal mil spec buffer tube even though the stock says AR15 why wouldn't it work on my .308???

Did I miss the boat? Or am I making something simple hard. I don't understand what the difference would be as long as my buffer tube works with my buffer and it does. As far as I know have .398 buffer inside tube with a quarter in the bottom of buffer tube aspect instructions say to but don't hv everything built yet to check cycling of BCG. Now if I was to use the long straight buffer tube I have a plastic stubb I need to put in there for my JP buffer to work correctly. Can someone please correct me if I'm out there in left field? Thanks

When he said A2, he meant rifle reciever extension (aka buffer tube) Your 6 position receiver extension ( buffer tube) is carbine extension. The other one you describe sounds like the correct (rifle) extension. I'm assuming you are talking about the magpul PRS stock. It uses the rifle extension, not the carbine. There is a small screw under the shoulder pad of the PRS that attaches to the hole in the rear of that tube. if the stock doesn't have the screw included, you will need an A1 length screw, not the longer A2 length stock screw. The rifle extension doesn't use a castle nut or end plate like the carbine extension uses, it just screws directly into the lower. The PRS won't slide onto your 6 position extension. I've never used a jp buffer so i have no idea how that shenanigans works.

Cliff's notes....the PRS stock works with the longer rifle extension, not the 6 position carbine extension.

Some Photo's would help to make sure of the components are what they are .Also with the Carbine or retractable stocks , there is a Commercial size & the MilSpec size , OD Receiver Extensions ( Buffer Tubes ).

The Rifle length ( A 2 ) are all the same OD . & unless you plan on using Armalite AR 10 Buffer system , the AR 15 Receiver Extensions will work .

I also don't know anything about those fancy Buffer systems .
