dinnerplate Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I'm trying to do a complete AR308 build before the end of the year to comply with new California laws. I already bought a Mega Arms Maten stripped Upper/Lower combo. I'm eventually going to do a sub-MOA build, but I'm trying to keep it cheap for now. I don't want to build it one part at a time this round, so I'm looking for a complete upper to steal parts away from and build into the Mega Arms upper receiver. So far, I'm looking at two options: 1) Aero Precision SS 18" upper and BCG for about $775. 2) DPMS Oracle upper with BCG for about $600. Will the parts transfer over from both of these to the Mega Arms Maten upper? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.
beantown Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 In the 308AR world we have no "Mil Spec" standards. You're better off staying with the same manufacturer for the upper and lower. You'll have a better fit and less headaches. Oh, and the Meaga Maten is one heck of a setup. Nothing wrong with Aero or DPMS in my book. I own a DPMS LR308 an I have zero complaints!
beantown Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) Dang it the editor timed out AGAIN! And I see that you already have the Mega upper and lower set. The Aero or DPMS parts should fit your Mega set just fine. From Mega's website: Designed to accept any AR style .308 barrels and bolts*. This means you can use your AR10/Noveske or SR25/DPMS components. Edited December 4, 2016 by beantown
