I would say target shooting, hunting animals where you need a lot of penetration, coyotes, or home defense. 

if you are hunting deer and other such animals, I would go with something that is made to mushroom pretty quickly and put the animal down fast. and like Malig8r said, you might want to try different bullets to see what works best in your rifle. I like to go with a nice ballistic tip that will keep my tips from getting deformed when they get chambered, yet still will expand nicely on impact as long as the bullet maintains enough speed (which it should at reasonable hunting distances.)
