Project Appleseed+ maple syrup= Project Mapleseed

Recommended Posts

So a few years back some fellow Canadian tried out an Appleseed  event which then led them to instructor bootcamp in Waco.

The events are so popular they sell out and we're seeing some locals in training to be instructors. It's a great program not only for shooters but as a tool to introduce new people to the sport.

This is my second year going and had a blast.

So a shout out and thanks to Project Appleseed for and if anyone has done it would like to compare similarities and differences between Appleseed and Mapleseed.

I'm glad to see it spreading up North!!!  :hail: I've let my participation slack for a few years now, but I need to get back in it.  I was instructing up to 2013, and I need to get back in it.  Project Appleseed is a great, great even to hit up, and there's many to choose from in every state down here.

What do your instructors teach for history?  Here, it's one hundred percent about the events leading up to 19 April 1775 - the start of the Revolutionary War, and why/how we got to that point of "The Shot Heard Around The World."

Very glad to see it up here.

Sign in is 7:30am, then intros and brief history of Mapleseed( doesn't take long with a shout out to Appleseed) We shoot a baseline target at 25M( 5 targets each progressively smaller, 3 rounds each)

Then starting with going through sling use and prone position followed by sitting/kneeling and then standing. Shooting at targets and refining through out.

End of day we shoot 3 qualifiers( 4 stages)

Stage 1 standing 10 rds,2 min, 1 mag

Stage 2 standing to sitting/kneeling, 10 rds, 55 sec, 2 mags(2&8), 2 targets 5x5

Stage 3 standing to prone,10 rds, 65 sec, 2 mags(2&8),3 targets 3x3x4

Stage 4 prone, 10rds,5 min,1 mag,2x2x3x3

Max is 250 points, 17-209 Sharpshooter, 210-250 Rifleman

We then finish up shooting the baseline target to see our improvement.

I managed a 215 with a bolt action and scope
